Evonik Corporation is seeking a Senior Process Engineer (Mapleton, IL) to provide process engineering support to plant processes, with a primary focus on the practice of cyanoethylation, hydrogenation, alkoxylation, and quaternization based process technologies. Support business growth and improve plant productivity though asset preservation, growth, expansion, cost reduction, and introduction of new products and safety initiatives. Develop expense and capital-based projects at the site from conceptual design to basic engineering, production, sizing and specifications, materials of construction, control strategies, to startup of new equipment. Provide technical risk assessments. Identify, develop, and execute plant productivity projects to drive continual improvements. Ensure safety and compliance with all environmental and safety practices and procedures, in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Telecommuting permitted 1 day per week. Up to 5% domestic travel required.
SALARY RANGE: $127,587 - $153,100 per year
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field and 8 years of experience in optimizing engineering processes within a manufacturing facility. Must have the following experience: providing technical support for process troubleshooting and optimization to improve manufacturing plant growth, safety, and profitability; following OSHA CFR 1910.119 PSM and EPA RMP regulations; designing, sizing, and specifying equipment, instrumentation, piping, and control systems; designing Pressure Relief Systems, including sizing and specifications; providing Process Hazard Analysis and identification of required PSI; using ASPEN Plus or other simulation software; experience with DCS control system; and introducing new products and participating in pilot and trial manufacturing runs. Telecommuting permitted 1 day per week. Up to 5% domestic travel required.
