Senior Process Engineer
Position Summary
The purpose of this role is to provide engineering expertise across FMC, to ensure a long-term cost competitive supply chain of crop solutions. This expertise enables engineering improvement of currently operated processes at commercial scale, as well as development of new processes suitable for implementation at commercial scale.
This role requires comprehensive chemical engineering knowledge, as well as work experience in process development, pilot plant and/or commercial operations. The successful candidate will be able to lead technical and economical assessments of existing operations, identify improvement opportunities, provide technology advancements and finally deliver implementation at plant level in combination with a cross organizational team. Similarly, The Senior Process Engineer will interface with the laboratory team and be responsible for technical feasibility guidance during early-stage laboratory scale synthesis development. The role involves engineering support through all phases of process development, with responsibility from early-stage ideation process through commercial scale launch.

The Role:
Champion Process Safety in relation to technical project at toller or owned sites – PHA technical challenger and PHA review roles, HAZOP and LOPA work, as well as development of risk mitigating engineering solution.
Owns the scale-up process of laboratory scale chemical processes by design and installation/modification of pilot plant equipment that enables generation of process data suitable for process design. This includes all aspects of EHS and PSM.
Leverage process knowledge and data to research and provide recommendations for process improvement and technology advancements.
Design, direct, and coordinate work with external research partners to supplement internal experimental programs when required.
Able to work in a kilo-scale facility for process development or generate data for scale-up.
Provide necessary information for Conceptual Design Package e.g. BFD’s, Mass- & energy balances, equipment list etc. Audit detailed engineering design documents e.g. PFD, P&ID, specified equipment design, etc.
Transfer technology from TC to the manufacturing sites, write and update Technology Transfer Packages (TTP’s), and ensure compliance with TTP guidelines.
Oversee the implementation of process improvements at toller or owned sites.
Provides technical troubleshooting support to tollers or owned sites.
Experience in project management is an advantage.
Ability to travel to domestic (up to 30%) and international (up to 10%) sites.
The Candidate:
Master Degree or Ph.D. or similar degree in Chemical Engineering.
A minimum of 6 years of industrial experience in agro, pharmaceuticals, fine or specialty chemical industry with manufacturing and/or scale-up is required.
In-depth knowledge of general engineering principles and practical experience with typical unit operation for chemical processing.
Excellent hold on basic chemical engineering concepts and can utilize them to support cross functional teams in identification of improvement ideas.
Basic understanding of organic chemistry.
Experience and/or strong interest in interdisciplinary project work - Experience with project management is indeed a qualification.
Fluent in spoken and written English, strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information with global internal and external partners require.
Expertise in process safety management and thermal hazards evaluation ideal.

Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams of scientists in a global organization.
Capture and maintain appropriate records and communicate effectively.
