About the Role:
As a member of the DesignWorks print team, the Senior Print Publication Designer contributes to layout design for print media products. Reporting to the Production Design Manager and collaborating closely with design directors and editors based in the US, you will help create well-crafted, cohesive layouts that adhere to the established style guide for each product.
About You:
You’re a curious and adaptable graphic designer with a robust portfolio of magazine and book projects. You’re skilled at contributing to and enhancing the brand’s creative vision. You have extensive hands-on experience with design programs, including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and are constantly exploring fresh techniques to bring content to life on the printed page.
Your Day-to-Day:

  • Collaborate closely with your manager, project coordinator, and design directors to prioritize and accomplish design assignments within specified deadlines
  • Adhere to brand standards and templates to guide design projects from initial layout to final printer-ready pages
  • Utilize Mac-based Adobe CC Suite software for executing layouts. This involves creating InDesign templates, establishing paragraph, character, and object style formats, and leveraging parent pages and other software shortcuts to enhance production efficiencies
  • Assist in tasks such as color correction, ad placement, prepress processes, and final file approvals within our publishing platform
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all design materials
  • Partner with editorial teams to determine image requirements, research and source assets from various outlets, including stock photo libraries, online user-generated galleries, and in-house archives. Evaluate the quality, relevance, and licensing restrictions of each image carefully

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, fine arts, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 4-6 years of graphic design experience, preferably focusing on magazine and book publications
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat, on Mac platform
  • Experience in photo research, sourcing, composition, and editing
  • Proficient in generating design solutions, emphasizing color, typography, page layout, and publication pacing
  • Effective in team collaboration, skilled in using Microsoft 365 Office tools such as Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Teams. Experience includes working within global teams and independently
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Understanding of production schedule deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills, capable of balancing priorities and collaborating effectively with multiple teams
  • Reliable at meeting and managing multiple project deadlines
  • Understanding and appreciation for lifestyle, home and garden, and food topics
