Summary Generated by Built In

At F5, we strive to bring a better digital world to life. Our teams empower organizations across the globe to create, secure, and run applications that enhance how we experience our evolving digital world. We are passionate about cybersecurity, from protecting consumers from fraud to enabling companies to focus on innovation.

Everything we do centers around people. That means we obsess over how to make the lives of our customers, and their customers, better. And it means we prioritize a diverse F5 community where each individual can thrive.

As the Senior Principal Technical Product Manager (TPM) for AI Security, you will lead the 0-to-1 product strategy, ecosystem integrations, and secure deployment architecture of our next-generation AI security portfolio.

You will sit at the critical intersection of top-tier AI model providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia), strategic design partners, and our internal Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) teams to ensure advanced security frameworks are co-developed and successfully deployed in complex, real-world enterprise environments.

Key Takeaways of the Role
  • High-Impact Ecosystem Ownership: Own the technical interfaces, joint roadmaps, and secure integrations directly with top LLM/foundation model providers.
  • Complex Tech Stack Governance: Direct the integration of bleeding-edge tech including Model Context Protocol (MCP) gateways, agentic identity, real-time guardrails, and automated red-teaming pipelines.
  • Customer-to-Core Loop: Work side-by-side with Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) at high-profile "Design Partner" customer sites, translating complex field deployment challenges into platform requirements.
Key Responsibilities

1. Co-Development & Ecosystem Integration

  • Lead technical product partnerships with major foundation model providers to co-develop secure-by-design API standards, secure context passing, and zero-trust data boundaries.
  • Drive alignment on emerging security frameworks, ensuring our runtime guardrails, prompt shields, and firewall systems are natively integrated or optimized for top-tier frontier models.

2. Advanced AI Security Prototyping

  • Define technical requirements and prototype for advanced AI features integrating with AI Gateway and Model Context Protocol (MCP) Gateway, securing the data-plane between agents, client applications, and external LLM tools.
  • Work with broader product team on productization of security controls including AI guardrails, automated LLM red-teaming/evaluation pipelines and data loss prevention (DLP)

3. Design Partner Engagement & Forward Deployed Collaboration

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for elite "Design Partner" enterprise customers during their early-stage, high-complexity rollouts.
  • Collaborate daily with Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) to architect, install, and troubleshoot complex production-grade AI applications.
  • Translate field telemetry, custom deployment architectures, and customer friction points directly into the core product platform and model development roadmap.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
  • Experience: 8+ years of technical product management, systems architecture, or engineering experience in cybersecurity, cloud security, or platform engineering (with at least 3+ years dedicated to AI/ML security or engineering).
  • Deep Knowledge of AI Gateways & MCP: Practical understanding of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) specification, remote MCP server governance, and secure routing protocols.
  • Agent Development & Agentic Identity: Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks (such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, LlamaIndex) and a strong grasp of Workload Identity, Non-Human Identity (NHI) governance, and machine-to-machine OAuth.
  • Guardrails & Red Teaming: Thorough understanding of active defense mechanics (such as Llama Guard, NeMo Guardrails), prompt injection defense, data extraction prevention, and automated red-teaming/evaluation tools.
  • Technical Communication: Ability to write precise technical specs, architectural diagrams, and code snippets, while comfortably communicating security posture to enterprise CISOs and Chief AI Officers in Customer briefings.
  • Education: BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent highly technical field.
