How you will make an impact:
Design, develop, test, and deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions in a regulated medical-device environment. This is a hands-on Senior Principal Engineer role requiring strong software development skills, cloud experience, and proficiency with modern Generative AI tools. The individual will personally contribute to architecture, coding, prototyping, debugging, testing, and deployment while providing technical leadership and mentoring to the broader engineering team.
- Personally design, develop, prototype, test, debug, and deploy production-quality software across the full software development lifecycle.
- Lead the design and development of scalable cloud-native software applications, services, APIs, and data solutions.
- Translate complex system and product requirements into practical technical designs and software architecture, and personally drive implementation through delivery.
- Leverage Generative AI and AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, documentation, code analysis, code review, and software design.
- Prototype and develop solutions using emerging GenAI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and related technologies where appropriate.
- Evaluate and resolve performance issues and software defects through hands-on root cause analysis, debugging, and implementation of efficient solutions.
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, architectural discussions, design reviews, and mentoring while maintaining significant individual technical contribution.
- Collaborate with product, systems, clinical, quality, cybersecurity, and other cross-functional teams to deliver software that meets product, regulatory, quality, and customer requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in software engineering practices, development productivity, automation, and application of AI-assisted development technologies.
This is a fully on-site role based at our corporate headquarters in Irvine, CA.
What you'll need (Required):
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 10 years of experience relevant experience or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria -OR- Master's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field, with 8 years of experience relevant experience or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria
- Strong hands-on software development experience with demonstrated ability to personally write, review, debug, test, and deploy production-quality software.
- Strong experience with C#, .NET, TypeScript/JavaScript, Angular or comparable modern web frameworks, RESTful APIs, SQL, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Experience designing and implementing modern software architectures, including APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
- Strong hands-on experience developing cloud-native applications and services using Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or equivalent cloud platforms.
- Experience with cloud APIs, containers, CI/CD, observability, security, scalability, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Generative AI and AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or equivalent technologies.
- Practical experience applying GenAI to software engineering activities including code generation, refactoring, debugging, test generation, documentation, code review, and software design.
- Experience developing applications or prototypes using LLMs, RAG, AI agents, or other GenAI technologies is highly desirable.

For California, the base pay range for this position is $139,000 - $196,000 (highly experienced).
