At Lyterian Therapeutics, we are committed to developing medicines for patients in need by co-opting physiologically-relevant protein homeostatic mechanisms to regulate genetically-validated targets.
Position Summary:
As Senior Principal Scientist / Associate Director, Bioinformatics you will develop and use computational approaches to characterize and analyze data generated from cutting-edge high-throughput screening approaches to support our early-stage research and discovery programs, and understand the underlying biology driving disease. You will use tools like Python and/or R for computational analyses to develop our proprietary platform and integrate internal and external data. By collaborating closely with biologists, biophysicists, chemists, and structural biologists you will uncover fundamental biology to advance our efforts in drug discovery, and help to develop Lyterian’s computational biology strategy across functions.
We look for teammates who are inspired by our mission and want to work in a collaborative, rigorous, and entrepreneurial environment. We seek candidates who are self-motivated, collaborative, proactive, and possess a strong desire to discover novel biology and new drugs. Efficient time management, excellent organizational and communication skills, and passion for high-quality, translational science are essential.
Impact You'll Make:
- Develop and drive Lyterian’s computational biology strategy across functions
- Examine and analyze imaging and phenotypic screening data to extract novel biological insights and develop custom tools for multimodal data analysis
- Use computational languages like Python, Perl, R, etc. to lead the analysis of data generated from our platform and integrate findings with internal and external data
- Collaborate with experimental scientists across functions to characterize novel targets coming from genetics, translational and disease pathway exploration, explore target engagement, research mechanisms of action, and provide functional validation of novel drug targets
- Serve as a scientific leader and subject matter expert (SME) on multiple project teams
- Develop and contribute to company's intellectual property (IP) domain by way of patents and/or publications, often as principal author
- Stay up-to-date with emerging scientific literature
- Collaborate and communicate across a diverse scientific team to successfully progress Lyterian goals
Qualifications:
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics or related discipline with 10+ years of relevant postdoctoral or industrial experience
- Demonstrated expertise in languages such as R and/or Python for computational analyses
- Proven success working in team environments and providing solutions that incorporate end-user interface and experience
- Experience analyzing and integrating high dimensional genomics data (such as RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, spatial transcriptomics, whole exome sequencing, etc.) and functional genomics screens leveraging CRISPR technologies, as evidenced by publications
- Expertise in computational techniques for analyzing high-throughput genomic datasets, and an interest in applying novel approaches to explore and integrate such data
- Familiarity with public databases, and repositories of DNA, RNA, protein, single cell and spatial profiling data
- Expertise or interest in applying novel applications of AI / machine learning strategies for biological target discovery
- Deep curiosity about disease biology
- Experience with neuroscience or neurodegenerative disease, oncology, and knowledge of protein degradation mechanisms is a plus
- Familiarity with high-performance computing environments
- Evidence of scientific excellence and impact as illustrated by scientific publications and presentations
- Ability to keep detailed and organized records and code, including using version control and repositories like Git
- Ability to successfully mentor across functions, manage multiple tasks efficiently, communicate clearly, work within departmental groups, and to build open and collaborative relationships
- Initiative and boldness to dive into a fast-paced new startup

What We Do
Lyterian Therapeutics derives its name from the Greek word λυτήριος or lutḗrios, that defines the termination, healing, or end of disease.
Disease resolution is coordinated by endogenous and exogenous agents that recruit cells and other effectors to the site of injury. We are inspired to learn from the logic that orchestrates homeostatic equilibria and fosters healing in response to disease.
At Lyterian Therapeutics, we are committed to developing medicines for patients in need by co-opting physiologically relevant protein homeostatic mechanisms to regulate genetically validated targets.
