About the Team
You will join Linklaters Global Solutions (LGS) as part of the Finance function. As Senior Pricing Advisor, you will lead the firm’s pricing capability for complex legal matters, including those with technology and AI‑assisted delivery components. You will act as a recognised expert in complex matter pricing, providing insightful, expert guidance to partners and senior stakeholders on high‑value, multi‑jurisdictional and technologically advanced matters.
You will lead the development, analysis and review of commercial proposals for these matters, support fee proposal submissions through relevant governance committees and proactively disseminate pricing intelligence across the firm. You will also play a key role in developing and embedding advanced matter pricing capabilities across the firm, including in relation to GenAI‑assisted delivery and alternative or value‑based fee arrangements, through the continuous development of tools, best‑practice guidance, governance, training and hands‑on support.
As Senior Pricing Advisor, you will:
Lead the firm’s pricing capability for complex legal matters, with a particular focus on technology and GenAI‑assisted delivery, acting as a recognised expert and primary point of contact for partners and senior stakeholders on GenAI‑related commercial issues.
Play a central role in the firm’s internal GenAI leadership project by analysing how generative AI impacts our commercial model, advising on viable pricing approaches and helping the firm prepare to capture new GenAI‑driven opportunities.
Design, lead and review commercial proposals for high‑value, multi‑jurisdictional and technologically advanced matters, including those enabled by GenAI, ensuring structures are commercially robust and aligned with client and firm objectives.
Structure and model complex fee arrangements (including alternative fee arrangements, retainers, success or outcome fees, value‑based and hybrid models), using both standard and bespoke tools to assess margins and recommend optimal options.
Provide expert pricing advice to matter partners, managers and teams, including financial modelling, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and negotiation planning, with a specific emphasis on how GenAI changes effort, risk and value.
Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team (lawyers, legal tech, matter optimisation, legal project management, finance and other business professionals) to triage and respond to GenAI‑related matter opportunities and develop compelling, integrated commercial proposals.
Develop, maintain and continuously improve a suite of off‑the‑shelf and bespoke pricing models tailored to GenAI‑assisted and other complex matters to improve response times, consistency and standardisation.
Project manage the financial workstream of complex matter proposals, coordinating inputs and approvals across offices and time zones, and ensuring alignment with request for proposal (RFP) timetables and negotiation requirements.
Guide fee proposals through internal governance and approval processes, including pricing committees, identifying and implementing improvements to governance, controls and workflows for GenAI‑related and other innovative pricing.
Input into and review commercial terms in matter documentation so that fee structures, GenAI‑related assumptions, risk allocations and performance expectations are clearly and accurately captured, and that any deviations from client terms are approved and recorded.
Ensure agreed fee arrangements are correctly implemented in the firm’s systems (or via bespoke processes where needed), collaborating with lawyers, legal project managers and billers so that GenAI‑related and complex deals are operationally workable and monitorable.
Produce high‑quality financial models and analysis under time pressure, including support for competitive processes such as e‑auctions, and equip partners with clear pricing narratives and negotiation plans.
Provide commercial insights and constructive challenge based on experience of complex pricing scenarios, influencing partners with appropriate gravitas and, where required, representing the firm directly in pricing discussions with clients (including some travel).
Develop and deliver training and coaching for senior fee earners and business teams to build capability and confidence in pricing, especially for GenAI‑enabled delivery models and value‑based arrangements.
Collaborate with the wider pricing team, Matter Pricing Manager, legal project managers and finance colleagues to support the design, administration and monitoring of alternative fee arrangements in the firm’s financial systems.
Design and refine reporting and dashboards (including visualisations in Tableau or similar tools) to highlight trends, profitability, and behavioural patterns in complex and GenAI‑related pricing, and share insights across the global pricing community.
Conduct continuous horizon scanning of the legal and wider professional services market to monitor emerging pricing structures, GenAI and other technology trends, competitive strategies and client expectations, and translate findings into practical guidance and tools.
Contribute to and lead firmwide initiatives within the pricing function and finance, support client‑level pricing activities during peak demand, and promote a “one‑team” global culture across offices and time zones.
Apply if you:
Have four to six years’ experience in pricing or commercial finance within a professional services, financial services or consulting environment, and a strong academic background, ideally in finance, economics or business.
Are highly numerate, analytically strong and intellectually curious, with advanced Excel capability (complex formulas, scenario and sensitivity analysis), experience building robust financial models under time pressure and comfort working with large data sets and turning them into clear, concise analysis and visualisations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI or similar.
Are interested in innovation and technology, with exposure to pricing technology‑enabled or GenAI‑assisted legal services (or a strong appetite to develop this).
Understand the economics of a partnership or professional services firm, including concepts such as margin, leverage, utilisation, recovery, working capital and cost allocation, and can translate commercial and legal terms into clear financial outcomes and operational requirements.
Can demonstrate a track record of structuring and modelling complex fee arrangements (for example alternative fee arrangements, retainers, success fees and hybrid models) and supporting or leading pricing strategies for high value, multi‑jurisdictional or otherwise complex matters.
Show strong commercial acumen, balancing client objectives (certainty, value, transparency) with firm objectives (profitability, risk management, recoverability), and are confident providing constructive commercial challenge to senior stakeholders and explaining trade offs in a clear, pragmatic way.
Are skilled at managing and influencing senior stakeholders, with experience working closely with partners or senior leaders in a global or matrixed organisation, and can present and defend your recommendations to both internal stakeholders and, where relevant, directly to clients.
Communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally, distilling complex financial information into simple, compelling messages for non‑financial audiences, and enjoy coaching or upskilling non‑finance colleagues on pricing, commerciality or financial literacy while sharing tools, templates and best practice.
Have strong project management skills, with a structured approach to tracking assumptions, approvals, changes and governance, and the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent proposals and deadlines across offices and time zones while staying calm, accurate and maintaining high standards of quality under pressure.
Are confident using English at C1/C2 level to engage clearly and appropriately with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation, and are open to business travel a few times a year and eligible to obtain a UK visa.
