About this role

This role is a key member of Appier’s Growth & Communications team, reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Communications. Your primary responsibility will be leading Japan PR initiatives to strengthen Appier’s brand visibility, corporate reputation, and thought leadership across key Japanese media outlets.

To achieve this, you will work closely with cross-functional and global stakeholders to develop and execute Japan’s PR strategy in alignment with business objectives, driving both external and internal communications with a high level of ownership, autonomy, and strategic impact. You will also actively contribute to broader team initiatives and support collaborative efforts across the organization when needed.

As this role partners extensively with teams across Taipei and global offices, fluency in both English and Japanese is essential. We are looking for a proactive, collaborative, and self-driven communications professional with strong media instincts and a solid understanding of Japan’s media and digital landscape. Experience in B2B, Software, MarTech, digital marketing, or AI-related industries is highly preferred.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Appier’s Japan communications strategy, including corporate positioning, messaging, media relations, and integrated PR initiatives aligned with business objectives.
  • Drive high-impact media coverage and thought leadership across Japan’s business, technology, marketing, and financial media landscape.
  • Lead strategic PR opportunities, including media placements, executive interviews, speaking engagements, and industry events to elevate brand visibility.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors, analysts, and industry influencers in Japan.
  • Create and localize compelling communications materials, including press releases, byline articles, customer stories, executive messaging, social media content, and corporate announcements with clear and consistent narratives.
  • Joint effort with Product, Marketing, Sales, IR, and regional Comms teams to support product launches, customer success stories, partnerships, and corporate initiatives.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel and spokesperson support for media interviews, executive visibility, keynote opportunities, and crisis-sensitive situations.
  • Manage PR agencies and external partners to ensure high-quality execution and maximize communications impact.
  • Utilize media monitoring and analytics tools to evaluate media performance, share of voice, sentiment, and campaign effectiveness, translating insights into actionable practices.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging issues, and reputational risks, while supporting crisis and internal communications initiatives when needed.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of PR and Corp Comms experience, preferably in B2B technology, AI, SaaS, or digital innovation industries; agency and in-house experience is highly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in strategic communications, multinational executive profiling, and corporate PR within the Japanese market.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in Japanese, with strong business-level English proficiency.
  • Strong media network across Japan’s business, financial, technology, and marketing media landscape, with hands-on experience managing media relations and executive interviews.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using media monitoring, social listening, and communications analytics tools to measure performance, identify trends, and optimize PR strategies.
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Quick learner with the ability to understand complex technologies, AI innovations, research topics, and evolving business models.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable team player who thrives in high-growth, cross-cultural environments.
  • Resourceful and flexible mindset with a strong passion for leveraging AI tools and embracing ongoing transformation.
  • Proven track record supporting high-growth or publicly listed companies through major business milestones, market expansion, awards, or strategic corporate initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience in PR or IR agencies, multinational companies, or media is a plus.
