Job Title: Senior PowerBuilder Developer (Remote)

Job Description:
The Client is seeking a Technical Specialist contractor analyst/designer/developer (>10 years’ experience) for a 12-month engagement for the Engineering Application Services Dept to enhance and maintain a mission-critical application.
The Client-server, PowerBuilder application used to track work, materials and payments on Construction projects. We also have many Java, C+ and asp.net/C# interfaces with various internal and external systems that need to be maintained and enhanced. Additionally, there is a list of new interfaces and web applications tied to our clients want to have developed in the future.
The initial assignment will be to solve a Java upgrade problem in our Red Hat Linux server environment. Our Linux administrator wants to upgrade Linux, but the upgrade causes our Java interfaces to fail. We need someone who can diagnose the error/problem and create a solution to allow the upgrade and our Java interfaces to work. We also have some fairly minor logic changes/enhancements to some of our Java interfaces that we need coded/tested/applied.
After those assignments are complete, this person would work on a part of the team to analyze/design/code/test/implement/support data windows in PowerBuilder 10.0 to replace approximately 100 sample test result spreadsheet formats that were coded using an outdated 3rd party software tool. Additional work will involve analyzing/designing/coding/testing bug fixes and other functional enhancements to the system and its interfaces.
This individual should have practical experience with all phases of the standard software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, unit & system testing, quality assurance testing as well as experience with business process transformation. Experience designing and interfacing with SharePoint and web-based solutions are also valuable skills we’re seeking.
