Senior Site Reliability Engineer at EP are responsible for the capacity planning, cost, change management, monitoring, alerting, emergency response, availability, and performance of services. This includes advising on and often constructing the platform components underlying the services. They work closely with development and operations teams, building platforms and telemetry to assure service quality. They work with business teams to advise on cost/performance/reliability tradeoffs. SREs at the principal level are expected to lead these efforts for multiple systems within a business unit, making improvements in processes and helping guide partner and junior staff.
EP’s services are hosted on premises and within cloud-based services spanning the globe.
These workloads are hosted on a mix of Linux and windows platforms. For this role, the successful candidate will have a deep understanding of how distributed systems operate at scale and across multiple geographies, and a deep knowledge of windows. The role is to work on the windows-based workloads, but these share tooling, common services, and practices with Linux workloads and must seamlessly cooperate for our business users.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build platform automation for new platforms, deployment, and remediation tasks
• Enhance observability: monitoring, alerting, and logging for workloads and infrastructure
• Advise development teams building new services on platform and availability issues, helping them use standard reliable platform patterns
• Implement appropriate SLIs, health checks
• Plan capacity for services
• Implement continuous integration (CI) and deployment pipelines using standard tooling
• Participate in readiness reviews as new services are released to customers
• Implement platforms and platform improvements via Infrastructure as Code (IAC)
• Actively participate in incident response
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis
• Lead blameless incident reviews to drive improvements
• Work with EP security staff to build secure services and service platforms
• Automate services and platform related tasks
JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science or related field
• 7+ years computer system implementation work experience
• 3+ years defining requirements, designing enterprise scale distributed systems and services
• Extensive experience with windows operating systems, IIS (Internet Information Services), networking systems, cloud systems
• Experience with Windows server automation, PowerShell
• Experience with Windows configuration management at scale
• Extensive experience troubleshooting and analyzing performance of distributed systems
• Experience deploying and upgrading enterprise scale distributed systems
• Fluency in PowerShell, bash, operating system and cloud libraries
• Understanding of software development lifecycle steps and agile or similar team organization roles
• Experience implementing CI/CD for multiple projects and teams
• Experience with containerizing workloads, Kubernetes, related tooling
• Experience with windows workloads in an AWS (Amazon Web Services) environment

The salary range for this position in $133,000 to $135,000 and will be commensurate with experience related to the position.
