You are a seasoned software engineer (6+ years coding professionally) with strong opinions about language, architecture, and the tools you use.  Your opinions are born from trying a wide variety of approaches and honing in on what makes you ferociously productive. You are driven by seeing your software used; by providing value that your customers can’t live without.  You know that your understanding of customer needs always leads to a more valuable result.

You are a technical leader. You make the engineers around you better by providing timely feedback, guiding others, and having a clear decision making framework.  You take pride in the accomplishments of your teammates and love seeing them grow as much as you love spending time in the coding pocket (those times when you’re focused, see a clear solution to a thorny problem, and are just cranking out elegant code). You don’t believe in staying in your lane.  When you see a critical problem you either solve it or you call attention to it.  You capably set direction when confronted with ambiguity.

You are curious about damn near everything.  Time not spent learning something new feels like wasted time.  

You are motivated by working on foundational services: providing highly available libraries of core capabilities, ensuring software is secure, providing fast, cost-effective observability, and making your engineering peers as productive as possible. You have experience designing, implementing, and maintaining microservices. You have architected distributed systems at scale. You have owned an application end-to-end and are able to address infrastructure concerns, including infrastructure-as-a-service. You have deployed microservices on either AWS or GCP.

What You’ll Do 

• Query Layer Service: Work on a microservice offering a unified API across popular data warehouses. 
• Realtime Support: Contribute to and develop an architecture for enabling real-time capabilities across our platform.
• Export Service: Develop scalable microservices for transferring data to destination platforms.
• Design, implement, and improve various systems in our platform as we evolve quickly to support our growth. 

The estimated salary is between $150,000 to $200,000 CAD or $140,000 to $190,000 USD. The total compensation will also include a meaningful variable component and equity in the company. Final base salary decisions will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors unique to each candidate, such as the individual’s skill set, depth of experience, and qualifications.
