Job Summary 
The Media Sr. Planner, Performance will own the day-to-day logistics in the planning and maintaining of Performance Media campaigns as well as helping own the relationships with the Performance Media Supervisor between Horizon Teams and any outside partners. Knowledge should be expanded across strategy planning of search, programmatic, social, affiliate and direct partnerships. Ultimately, this role leads collaboration with activation teams to innovate its clients’ campaigns as well as assisting the supervisor in cultivating key partnerships to deliver the best digital media opportunities to the client. The sr. planner should have the ability to synthesize performance data, applying learnings to media plans and being able to contribute to create a performance focused media strategy, while owning elements of planning, strategy, and collaborating with other internal channel stakeholders.

What You’ll Do


Strategy – 40%

  • Review Performance Media activation recommendations and be able to contribute to creating a wholistic performance-focused media plan
  • Provide recommendations and help build out media plans with senior leadership including where to invest client media dollars across the performance media channels
  • Ability to contribute to reporting insights and create recommendations from reporting data from performance media channels that ties back to client business goals
  • Employ Horizon suite of planning, evaluation and buying tools for application/analysis into competitive landscape, target digital consumption support, plan development and reporting
  • Participate in team brainstorms to kick off plan and consideration set development
  • Monitor trends, tools, opportunities, and applications in biddable environments, and appropriately apply that knowledge in conjunction with performance teams
  • Create and present media specific documents such as media plans, objectives and strategies decks, and other related functions

Campaign Management & Execution – 20%

  • Oversee trafficking and site tagging, follow through to ensure sites are enabled, and functioning properly, QA’ing all pixels
  • Issue specs documents and ensure all materials are received from creative agency/channel teams
  • Oversee creation of campaign post launch information such as screenshots, links, and placement information to demonstrate proof of placement for clients
  • Advise on post campaign reconciliation and billing

Reporting & Analysis - 30%

  • Monitor and report weekly on biddable and direct channel performance and being an active voice in insights and question/gather all information to provide strategic recommendations to improve performance
  • Ensure optimizations by the activation teams are being made on an ongoing basis
  • Parse through large datasets to provide critical thinking and analysis, as well as draw conclusions and discover actionable implications
  • Collaborate with channel teams, including analytics teams to aggregate data and ensure standardization across portfolio of accounts
  • Responsible for providing data for dashboards/Excel trackers, as needed by account, ensuring accuracy and validity of data shown

Relationship Management - 10%

  • Collaborate with Supervisor to identify problems and recommend solutions
  • Troubleshoot performance results with activation teams, when necessary
  • Keep senior leadership updated on the status and timing of deliverables
  • Engage and effectively interact with other Horizon departments, i.e., Business Solutions, Traffic, Operations
  • Apply knowledge of current/previous clients’ specific business and industry to enhance and further relationships
  • New Vendor Management – Review and vet new vendor opportunities to be added to media plan and provide POV on vendor capabilities
  • Own the organization of RFPs/RFIs to any and all outside vendors

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 2.5+ years previous digital media experience with performance media background
  • Effectively showcase strong project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of advanced analytics and performance media
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills; proficiency with Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics and Google AdWords, preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Effectively articulate purpose of media plans, budgets, and optimizations and how it ties back to client business goals
  • Experience with third party ad servers
  • Familiarity with biddable channels and partner direct

Salary Range

$70,000.00 - $85,000.00

A successful applicant’s actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure/certifications, and equity.
