Senior Planner, Brownfields Redevelopment

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Planner, Brownfields Redevelopment & Implementation to join the Infrastructure business line in Florida. 

As a Senior Planner within our Infrastructure business line, you will play a key role in Stantec’s brownfields redevelopment and asset transformation practice. This client-facing role will support communities as they transform underutilized, contaminated, or challenged properties into catalytic community assets. You will manage and support EPA brownfields grants, redevelopment planning efforts, funding and economic development strategies, community engagement, and implementation roadmaps. Our work does not stop at visioning—we help communities identify practical pathways for redevelopment, and project delivery so plans can move from concept toward construction, reuse, and long-term community benefit. This role may be based in West Palm Beach, Miami, Orlando or Jacksonville Florida, Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA, and Louisville, KY. 

Your Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a client-facing project manager and strategic advisor for brownfields redevelopment, revitalization, and implementation projects.
• Manage and support EPA brownfields grants, including work plans, budgets, schedules, reporting support, consultant coordination, eligible activities, and implementation tracking.
• Develop redevelopment strategies that connect land use, infrastructure, environmental conditions, market opportunities, funding sources, and community priorities.
• Help communities move projects from visioning and planning into actionable implementation steps, including funding pursuits, partner coordination, site readiness, and next-phase project delivery.
• Coordinate with environmental, planning, economic development, engineering, landscape architecture, funding, and design professionals to advance redevelopment outcomes.
• Lead or support community engagement, stakeholder interviews, public meetings, workshops, and presentations for municipal clients, redevelopment agencies, community partners, and public/private stakeholders.
• Proactively identify project risks, scope issues, schedule concerns, decision points, and opportunities to maintain momentum and keep projects moving forward.
• Mentor and direct junior team members, including delegating tasks, reviewing work products, and helping staff understand project goals, client expectations, and implementation priorities.
• Communicate effectively with clients and project teams to resolve project issues, present findings and recommendations, and deliver services that support client goals.
• Manage work within defined scopes, budgets, schedules, and quality expectations.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Experience managing or supporting brownfields redevelopment, community revitalization, economic development, planning, or implementation projects for public or private sector clients.
• Experience managing or supporting EPA Brownfields Assessment, Cleanup, Revolving Loan Fund, Multipurpose, Coalition, or related federal/state grant programs.
• Understanding of EPA brownfields grant implementation, including cooperative agreement work plans, budgets, reporting, ACRES support, site eligibility, community engagement, and coordination with environmental assessment and cleanup activities.
• Ability to translate complex environmental, funding, planning, economic development, and redevelopment issues into clear recommendations for clients, elected officials, community stakeholders, and project partners.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, maintain schedules and budgets, and drive work toward actionable outcomes.
• Ability to facilitate workshops and public and stakeholder input both virtually and in person.
• Effective communicator who can build trusted client relationships, lead teams, and present information in a clear, professional, and approachable manner.
• Proactive, organized, and comfortable guiding projects through ambiguity while maintaining momentum across multiple partners, disciplines, and decision points.
• Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
• Working knowledge of relevant planning, mapping, graphic, or communication tools such as GIS, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, or similar software is a plus but not required.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Economic Development, Urban Studies, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
• AICP, PLA, or similar professional certification is preferred. 
• 8+ years of related experience in brownfields redevelopment, environmental planning, community redevelopment, economic development, grant implementation, public-sector planning, or related project management. Experience with EPA brownfields grants, redevelopment funding, or implementation strategy is strongly preferred.
  Typical office environment working with computers. Some travel may be required to meet with clients, reviewing agencies, community stakeholders, or project partners, or to attend public workshops, stakeholder meetings, and public hearings. May occasionally visit study areas, redevelopment sites, construction sites, or other project locations and may be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.
