Senior Application Performance Engineer

What does a successful Senior Application Performance Engineer do at Fiserv?

You will join Finxact, a Fiserv Company and a leading new entrant in the Fintech space. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create automated performance testing solutions that align with our ambitious standards. Your work will directly impact the quality of the financial experiences we deliver to our clients and their customers.

What you will do:

• Test Go application components that are scalable and maintainable across our enterprise
• Develop internal tools for performance analysis of workloads, workload automation, data visualization and automated analysis
• Test services that interact with RDBMS and Messaging systems
• Develop functional and performance tests using Jmeter, K6 or similar tools to ensure a quality product
• Create Postman collections for automated execution
• Perform test executions and write test scripts for complex integrated systems
• Implement test processes on projects, writes test plans, procedures, and scripts, and analyzes test results
• Produce reports and documentation for all automated testing efforts, results, activities, data, logging, and tracking

What you will need to have:

• 5+ years of experience in performance testing and engineering Go or Java applications backed by a relational database such as Postgres or MySQL
• 5+ years of experience working with Jmeter, k6 and other performance test tools
• 5+ years of experience with programming languages such as Java or Python
• 5+ years of experience with performance monitoring and profiling tools
• 2+ years of experience in Bash scripting & SQL
• 2+ years of experience creating and interpreting KPI monitors with Datadog or other observability tools
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, and/or equivalent military experience

What would be great to have:

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization of databases (SQL/NoSQL)
• Experience with microservices, event driven architectures and messaging brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Experience software version control (Preferably Git) and continuous integration tools
• Relevant certifications in performance testing or cloud platforms
