ABOUT VEG
In 2014, VEG was born with a mission to help people and their pets when they need it most by challenging norms and fixing the ER experience. Since then, we’ve expanded rapidly, with hospitals nationwide open 24/7/365, and created an ER experience that focuses on what our pets and pet parents really need. We’ve done the same for our people (VEGgies), finding a way to say YES so they are empowered to achieve great things, grow in unexpected ways, and find a place where they truly belong.
We’re rethinking emergency care from every angle—from how we run our hospitals to how we support the people working inside them. That’s where our headquarters team comes in. Whether building technology to make our hospitals more efficient, recruiting and growing incredible VEGgies, or bringing our brand to life through marketing, our VQ (VEG Headquarters) team makes it all possible—ensuring our hospitals and people have everything they need to help pets and their families.
VEG is a 2025 and 2026 certified Great Place to Work®.
THE JOB
At VEG, we find a way to say YES, and this role brings that mindset to how we support, grow, and care for our VEGgies in the field.
As a People Business Partner, you will serve as a trusted senior People partner to Market Owners and hospital leaders across your region. You will help leaders make strong people decisions, navigate complex employee situations, build future talent readiness, and create a consistent VEGgie experience.
This is a field-based business partnership role for someone who can operate close to the front line while thinking strategically about talent, engagement, performance, leadership capability, and hospital growth. You’ll bring sound judgment, field credibility, data-informed recommendations, and deep care to the moments that matter most.
WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Field Presence & Trust Building: Spend meaningful time in hospitals across your geography to build trusted relationships with VEGgies and leaders, stay close to field reality, and ensure People support is grounded in what is actually happening in the hospitals.
- Leader Coaching & Employee Relations: Coach Market Owners and hospital leaders through performance management, employee relations, conflict, engagement, difficult conversations, and sensitive people moments with care, consistency, urgency, and sound judgment.
- Talent, Performance & People Processes: Support regional execution of core People processes, including talent reviews, succession and development planning, engagement surveys, performance reviews, retention initiatives, compensation reviews, and growth plan adoption.
- Data, Pattern Recognition & Risk Management: Use people data, field insights, and recurring themes across hospitals to identify talent, engagement, retention, performance, and employee relations risks; diagnose root causes; and bring forward practical recommendations.
- Change Adoption & Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with People COEs, Talent, Legal, VQ, and regional operations teams to support adoption of People initiatives, escalate systemic themes, improve program usability, and protect the VEG culture in hospital reality.
