About the role  

This is a 12 month fixed term role.

This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of end-to-end payroll operational activities, including processing all aspects of payroll, reporting, queries, projects, compliance, and audit requirements.  As such, it requires someone who is flexible and willing to  work proactively and cross-functionally, and who has an innate desire to continually grow develop as they help to improve payroll services for our business.

Day-to-day, you will:  

  • Assist with identifying and raising systems and/or data issues and escalate to leader and technical team
  • Ensure customer experience is positive and that all payroll queries are complete and closed within agreed SLA
  • Prepare salary estimates, termination and salary packaging models, as well as “what if” scenarios (as requested)
  • Complete cyclical payroll changes such as annual remuneration review, bonus payments, share deductions, lifestyle leave etc.
  • Delivery of the reporting requirements for payroll including cyclical reporting, EOM / EOY reporting, and surveys
  • Analyse volumes and types of queries to identify areas to implement self-service materials / training, and deliver the tools and guides to empower our employees
  • Align to company goals, values, and team culture, such as striving for automation, consistency and efficiency gains
  • This role may require you to step into the Payroll Operations Manager role on occasion.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:  

  • Minimum of 5 years payroll experience, ideally within an ASX listed company, with proficiency in processing medium-sized payrolls (preferably using ichris/Chris21), ideally coupled with Workday HCM exposure
  • Well-developed Excel skills, paired with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality customer service and handling sensitive payroll issues
  • Positive and inquisitive attitude, capable of taking direction while also being proactive, responsible, and accountable
  • Ability to interpret and apply provisions of relevant legislation, awards, certified agreements, and company policies
