Opportunity Overview
As a Senior Payroll Specialist, International, you will oversee accurate and compliant payroll delivery across Rhythm’s international markets, with a focus on the international portfolio.  This role owns end-to-end payroll processing, vendor coordination, payroll reconciliation, compliance support, employee inquiries, and continuous process improvement in partnership with HR, Finance, and payroll leadership.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Manage accurate and timely monthly payroll and operations for assigned countries across the international portfolio.
  • Prepare, validate, and reconcile payroll inputs, including new hires, employee changes, compensation, benefits, and terminations.
  • Ensure strict payroll compliance with local labor laws, tax and withholding, social security, statutory reporting, internal controls, and data privacy regulations.
  • Partner with in-country payroll providers, local authorities, HR, and Finance to resolve payroll and compliance matters.
  • Support account reconciliations, audits, documentation, employee inquiries, and payroll reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processes, controls, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in the testing and implementation of payroll system enhancements, year-end statutory reporting, and entity setups in new international markets.
  • Perform other ad hoc projects and related tasks as necessary to support global business growth.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive payroll experience, with demonstrable multi-country international payroll experience with an EU focus strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience collaborating with third party in-country payroll vendors and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, discretion, and ability to meet recurring payroll deadlines.
  • Sound judgment when handling complex or ambiguous payroll and compliance issues.
  • Strong understanding of European payroll compliance, statutory filings, social taxes, and GDPR requirements.
  • Exposure to cross-border compensation, equity transactions/withholding, or mobile employee payroll.
  • Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel.
This role is based out of our corporate office in the Netherlands. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Netherlands office in coordination with their department and business needs.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
