SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE (Basic purpose of the job):
Exelixis is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to assist with the day-to-day payroll operations to ensure accurate processing and recording of the company’s payroll transactions. This role requires an individual with a detailed and analytical mindset, knowledge of payroll laws, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. This position must be able to work closely with employees and provide excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage multi-state payroll tax process and reconciliation with third party tax provider
- Coordinate with Stock Admin for all stock transactions (NQ, RSU, PSU) off-cycle payroll runs
- Support the bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll in Workday
- Manage employee ticketing system, research and respond to payroll inquiries
- Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies and perform corrections as necessary
- Participate in the payroll quarterly business review meeting and produce key performance metrics reporting
- Support year-end validation of data related to W2 processing and payroll adjustments
- Manage periodic reporting and ad hoc requests from business partners and vendors
- Collaborate with external auditors during the quarterly review, interim and year-end audit
- Participate in process improvement projects including implementation of enhancements in Workday and payroll processes
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize and automate operations and execute on those initiatives
- Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, wage tax laws, and other federal and state legislation impacting payroll
- Ensure SOX compliance with internal control policies

- No supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 5 years of related experience.
- Associate degree in related discipline and 7 years of related experience Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications
- Workday payroll experience preferred
- Payroll tax experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to exercise discretion when handling confidential employee information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines
Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $82,500 - $117,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
