Job Description: Senior Pastor

Community Church Big Bear is seeking an individual to serve as the Senior Pastor for our church. This is a full-time salaried ministry position, with a generous benefits package. Applicants: please send a resume, your written testimony, references, and video links (preaching examples).

Background Information

Our church is pastor led. We are searching for a pastor to fulfill that role. This includes leading our Elder Board, our paid staff, our ministry volunteers, and every age group and category of individuals. Big Bear is a small tourist community in the SoCal mountains. We enjoy four seasons and beautiful natural environment. Winters can be difficult for some people. We have a full-time staff of three people, and four part-time, with two Sunday Services and a Wednesday mid-week program. Our weekly worship attendance is between 400-475.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop vision and values for the church to follow in the coming years, in accordance with the scriptures and the teachings of Jesus.
  • Foster a Christian community culture that embraces and engages newcomers in the life of the church. Providing an active role for as many people as possible.
  • Present Biblical messages to the congregation on Sundays, bringing the Bible to life, for the uninitiated and deepening the faith of believers.
  • Oversee and direct programs for youth, children, worship teams, Spanish language ministry, outreach programs (local and global), safety team, etc.
  • Implement plan for growing church members spiritually in their walk with Christ, (spiritual disciplines, evangelism, theology, ect.)
  • Be available for individual/couples meetings for counseling, mentoring, prayer support, hospital visits.
  • Develop and administer church ministry budget in coordination with the Elder Board.
  • Continue to develop a global outreach ethos that demonstrates God’s heart for the nations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders. Be engaged in the community, both by hosting non-church groups on campus, and outside the church events that show a heart for the community.

Education/Experience:

Pastor/leader should have significant experience in leadership, pastoring, counseling, preaching, and team building.

A Master’s level education in Christian Studies/Theology is preferred.

Community Church – Big Bear is a ministry of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, (cmalliance.org). Candidates must be CMA licensed/ordained, or willing to pursue this credential. The church/denomination will provide resources and training for this.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation will include a competitive full-time salary. Benefits will include a health care plan (including immediate family), retirement savings plan, paid holidays and vacation, and an expense budget for fellowship, books, equipment, and supplies.
