About the role

The Senior Partnerships Officer will be based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. They will be responsible for coordinating Fortify Health’s relationships with both state and local governments in Bhopal.  

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building and strengthening partnerships with state and local government departments as well as not-for-profits. They will identify collaboration opportunities and support the implementation of wheat flour fortification programs such as Public Distribution Systems (PDS), Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), and Mid-Day Meal (MDM) programs. In addition, this role will manage and mentor a young, growing team.

The Senior Partnerships Officer will report to the Partnerships Manager.

Please note that this is a contract-based Consultant role for a period of 6 months, subject to renewal based on performance and organisational requirements.  Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage interested candidates to submit their applications as early as possible. 

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and activities
  • Identify opportunities for partnership
    • Explore potential opportunities for partnering with government/quasi-governmental organisations by conducting background research and scoping activities. 
  • Building and sustaining relationships with Fortify Health partners
    • Build and maintain relationships with existing partners and stakeholders, while identifying and engaging new potential partners across government, quasi-government, and non-profit organisations 
    • Present an accurate picture of Fortify Health’s work in fortification, particularly with regard to previous and ongoing partnerships.
  • Supporting project implementation: 
    • Conduct partner and field visits, in collaboration with relevant members of the Fortify Health team, to ensure effective project implementation.
    •  Developing a comprehensive project plan that aligns key stakeholders, allocates responsibilities, and clarifies key outputs and deliverable timelines.
    • Create and maintain the necessary project documents, including but not limited to concept notes and project operationalization documents. 
    • Monitoring project progress, sharing weekly updates, and making necessary adaptations to the plans as per changing priorities, resource availability, or feedback on key outputs

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Requirements
  • Fluency in English and Hindi
  • Willingness to travel between 30% - 50% of the time 
  • Expertise:
    • Experience of working with the government or other stakeholders in health, nutrition, education or a related field. 
    • Basic skills in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Execution:
    • Excellent documentation and time management skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in multiple projects.
  • Collaboration:
    • Proven ability to manage professional relationships with key stakeholders, with outstanding interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to delegate effectively and motivate a team.
  • Communication:
    • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and persuasively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Growth Mindset:
    • Eager to learn from setbacks and use those insights to improve their work.
    • Self-starter who will thrive in a start-up setting by taking ownership and initiative. 
Desirable attributes
  • Bachelors or higher in a related field (policy, public health, economics, food technology etc.)
  • Experience working with remote team members.
  • Experience working independently.
  • Experience working in an NGO or in the development sector.

  • Proficiency in other local languages.
