Job Overview:

The Senior Paralegal will play a crucial role in supporting our in-house legal department with a focus on corporate and litigation matters, as well as provide support on other special projects and administrative tasks as needed. As a Senior Paralegal you will work closely with attorneys and other legal personnel, internal business units, and external parties to ensure efficient and effective legal operations.

Responsibilities:

Corporate Support:

  • Organize and maintain minute books and other corporate records. Assist with Board and committee meeting preparation, resolutions and meeting minutes.
  • Support on the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including review of Section 16 reports, preparation of D&O questionnaires, benchmarking, internal and external audit request, and data collection and verification. Support compliance with trading and other corporate policies. Assist on M&A transactions, including due diligence processes and management of data rooms.
  • Subsidiary management, including periodic filings and approvals, and support on tax restructuring projects. 

Litigation Support:

  • Assist attorneys throughout the legal process of a lawsuit, including the  electronic discovery process.
  • Maintain internal litigation case files and information databases, including issuing and releasing legal holds.
  • Assist attorneys in responding to subpoenas and government agency requests for information.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience as a paralegal with experience in corporate and litigation matters in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Google Docs, G-Drive, Google Slides) and/or Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in handling logistics of case management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, Associate’s degree, ABA- approved paralegal certification.
  • Prior in-house experience in litigation and corporate law.
  • Strong team player and able to work collaboratively across team and cross-functionally as well as independently. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex matters simultaneously in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, rapidly scaling environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product.
  • Critical thinking and sound judgment with the ability to analyze and resolve problems.

$104,000 - $131,000  USD

US Zone 3

$98,400 - $123,000 USD

The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.

Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU’s.

A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity. 

Current Zone Locations:

  • Zone 1- San Francisco Metro, New York City Metro or Seattle Metro
  • Zone 2 - CA (outside of SF Bay Area), CO, CT, DC, GA, IL, MA, MD, NY/NJ (other than NYC), OR, RI, TX, VA, WA (other than Seattle)
  • Zone 3 - all other US locations
