Come Drive Innovation with Us. We are currently looking for a Senior Paralegal, Litigation to join our team in Franklin, TN.

This position provides support primarily for the Product Safety and Liability practice areas. Conducts broad-based factual and legal research of risks and claims and prepares comprehensive analyses and reports. Participates in managing legal holds, research, investigations, subpoena and discovery responses, and trial preparation. Supports review and response to product investigations.

A Day in the Life:   

  • Provides paralegal support to litigation and other matters, including managing tracking and budgeting; coordinating discovery, witnesses, and assisting outside counsel; calendaring critical court dates

  • Opens, maintains, and closes case files using Nissan’s case management systems (T360)

  • Communicates with management, internal clients, and outside third parties, including preparation of correspondence, memorandum, presentations, etc.

  • Operates under direct supervision of a team of senior counsel

  • Receives third-party subpoenas and coordinates with counsel to respond

  • Issues litigation holds; manages, reviews, and monitors litigation docket

  • Assists in preparing discovery responses, affidavits, and related documents

  • Supports compliance with annual records retention policies

  • Acts as conduit between legal counsel and business clients for securing requested documents and information

  • Monitors and summarizes legislative changes to laws affecting motor vehicles and equipment; prepares 50-state surveys as needed

  • Supports efforts to increase efficiency and drive down litigation management costs

  • Identifies process gaps and recommends improvements

  • Builds and refines workflows, templates, and playbooks

  • Identifies legal risks and elevates strategic issues

  • Exercises independent professional judgment and earns trust to manage matters without close supervision

Who We're Looking for:

Required:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the civil litigation process

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and employees

  • Strong management and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to organize and handle high volume of cases and related pleadings, motions and discovery

  • Ability to function independently within job requirements

  • Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize information into recommendations for attorney supervisors and management

  • Five or more years of professional paralegal experience from law firm or in-house legal department (product liability litigation preferred)

  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies from an ABA-approved Paralegal Education Program, or

  • Bachelor’s Degree (any discipline) and either (a) professional Certification from an ABA-approved Paralegal Education Program or (b) 2+ years of experience within a law firm or corporate legal department (or equivalent)

Skills Required

  • Five or more years of professional paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department (product liability litigation preferred)
  • Associate's degree in paralegal studies from an ABA-approved Paralegal Education Program, or Bachelor's Degree with ABA-approved paralegal certification or 2+ years paralegal experience
