Great journeys start with Trainline 🚄

We’re Europe’s leading independent rail platform, helping millions of travellers find and book the best-value rail and coach journeys across our app, website and partner channels.

Our job is to make the green travel choice the best choice. By building a better train travel experience, we help more people choose rail - creating a positive impact for customers, our business and the planet.

We’re a team of more than 1,000 Trainliners from over 50 nationalities, working across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh and Madrid. Now is a brilliant time to join us and help shape the future of travel.

Introducing the Trainline Growth Team 👋

Organic Search sits at the heart of Trainline's Growth team, helping millions of travellers discover Europe's leading independent rail and coach platform through both traditional search and the fast-evolving world of generative AI engines. As Europe's number one downloaded rail app, we're on a mission to make travel as simple, seamless and affordable as it should be, and this role plays a genuine part in getting us seen and found by the people who need us.

You'll work closely with the Organic Search leadership team, shaping how Trainline shows up across search engines and AI-generated answers alike, while collaborating with technical SEO, engineering, marketing and go-to-market colleagues. It's a role with real scope to influence visibility strategy and get hands-on with both the craft of content and the emerging discipline of GEO.

In this role as the Senior Organic Search Executive, you will...🚄

  • Conduct keyword and topic research covering both traditional search intent and conversational AI queries, and use it to shape meta titles, descriptions, H1s and on-page content

  • Create and publish editorial content and landing page copy optimised for both SEO and GEO, in line with Trainline's brand tone of voice

  • Check content and copywriting regularly for local accuracy and effectiveness

  • Identify and flag technical issues affecting content visibility, crawling, indexing and AI crawler access, working with technical SEO and engineering to resolve them

  • Monitor competitor performance across search and generative engines, tracking visibility and citation share to spot content gaps and inform decisions

  • Own strategies to grow Trainline's visibility and citation share in generative engines, from spotting opportunities through to delivery

  • Keep on top of the fast-moving AI search landscape and share relevant updates with the wider team

  • Partner with other marketing channels and go-to-market teams to build a localised SEO and GEO content roadmap

We'd love to hear from you if you have...🔍

  • Fluency in English, as this role focuses on supporting English-speaking markets

  • Experience working in Enterprise SEO and executing organic search strategies

  • Positive attitude, growth mindset, flexible and can work collaboratively.

  • An understanding of how search engines crawl, index and rank content, alongside a working knowledge of how generative engines source and cite information

  • Familiarity with structured data and schema markup to improve visibility for both search engines and AI consumption

  • Confidence using analytics tools such as Google Search Console and Google Analytics, and you're happy to pick up new tools as needed

  • Experience with SEO and GEO tools such as SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Botify, Ahrefs or Profound would be helpful

  • A curious, proactive approach to using AI tools to improve productivity and ways of working

  • Strong written communication and copywriting skills, with the ability to bring creative solutions to complex SEO and GEO challenges

  • Comfort working across a CMS platform, managing multiple deadlines, and reporting on KPIs in a fast-paced environment
