The Red Hat OpenStack engineering team is seeking a Senior or Software Engineer level. In this role, you will collaborate with different teams within the Red Hat Openstack organization, lead the build out and continuous improvement of the CI process for OpenStack - involving containerized services deployed on Openshift. As a member of the design team, you'll contribute to feature test coverage, tooling frameworks, issue troubleshooting and resolution of OpenStack services. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will participate as a member of a geographically distributed team, using multiple communication tools for close collaboration. You'll need to have a passion for modern open source development methods, an interest in Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), and a desire to apply broad software engineering skills to IT automation. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business. Remote candidates will also be considered.
Senior level role can be hired anywhere in ireland, middle level only in Waterford Office.
What you will do
- Become a contributing member of the open source community to develop CI framework tools based on OpenStack’s Zuul, Openshift’s Prow, GitHub, GitLab CI
- Develop and maintain Red Hat OpenStack Platform operators and services CI
- Contribute to the delivery of Red Hat OpenStack Platform release cadence
- Participate in upstream and internal continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)
- Inspire and guide technical direction and content within the community and Red Hat
- Work with the OpenStack deployment - including Openshift managed operators - and upstream CI teams to improve automation coverage
- Proactively define and implement automated processes
- Maintain and troubleshoot issues in the Openstack production chain pipeline
What you will bring
- Extensive hands-on experience in core software engineering or DevOps/SRE roles
- Strong Linux development experience, basic networking skils
- Experience with cloud computing, configuration management, Ansible background is welcome
- Focus on test-driven development and good knowledge of unit testing frameworks and methodologies
- Development experience with Python language
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery and Ci/CD tools
- Good English communication skills, both written and verbal

- OpenStack environments user, developer or admin experience
- Experience with OpenStack Nova, Neutron, Storage & Deployment services
