We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager - Geotech to manage Geotech Operations with Fugro based in Dubai, UAE. In this role, you will supervise large and/or moderately complex operation team(s), including operation supervisors. You will manage onshore and/or offshore operations, ensuring efficient working, including the development and implementation of strategies relating to data acquisition activities, whilst providing overall operational strategic guidance to business operations to achieve specific objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Health and Safety remains a priority at all times; always comply with method statements and standards and contribute to improvements. Lead by example to create an appropriate HSE culture.
- Manage local Geotechnical Drill Rigs, Offshore, Land and Nearshore set ups.
- Deliver an efficient level of productivity and produce high quality results.
- Manage the site teams in the operation, function and maintenance of the marine equipment; share own expertise to help the team learn.
- Ensure client satisfaction throughout the contract, build successful relationships each time and create a client focused atmosphere within the team.
- Act as technical authority for all aspects of drilling and working over water.
- Provide commercial and technical support to applicable Business Units.
- Maintain concise and regular communication with all appropriate parties (including the client, as detailed in the Project Plan) to ensure the requirements of the project are being met.
- Provide comprehensive advice and information to the client and the site team. Make sound decisions, show initiative and lead adaptation to change. Apply appropriate economic criteria to business decisions.
- Direct the site team to ensure operations are completed as defined by the Project Plan and Method Statements; use suitable methodology at all times. Set targets and work schedules and coach the team to achieve them.
- Work safely at all times, stop operations immediately in the event of any risk to those on site, the plant or ancillary equipment.
- Act as technical authority and approval for Marine operational planning.
- Direct the Marine Team to ensure that site equipment is at all times fit for purpose (including managing required maintenance and identification of potential breakdowns)
- Ensure that Fugro standards are met at all times, referring to Method Statements, Project Plans and the Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Support the Project Team to develop Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Lift Plans as required, at any stage of the Project
- Assist with the repair & maintenance and research & development of company equipment
- Ensure all project measures and invoices are completed and manage the commercial requirements of the project
- Support pre tender evaluation and project preparation processes
- Ensure that the health and safety of everybody on the site including clients and visitors remains a priority at all times
- Present regular Toolbox talks and circulate Health and Safety materials as required
- Ensure project and company reporting requirements are adhered to, direct the marine team to complete; compliance with the PPM scheme and JUIC reporting, towing plans. Participate and arrange in the Project Debrief process.
- Develop your team: identify training requirements, take part in the appraisal and Passport to Work assessment processes. Communicate individual development needs to the Field Support Team
- Manage your team appropriately: lead by example, team building/management and deliver direct feedback as required.
- Regularly monitor and discuss performance with personnel, take appropriate action to ensure effective project delivery and individual development.
- Demonstrate compliance with and understanding of applicable HR policies and guidelines; contribute to continuous improvement of people practices
- Complete all appropriate training courses applicable to the role, as instructed by your Line Manager; follow instructions and ask questions to ensure continuous personal development
- Ensure that Fugro policies and procedures are understood, implemented and adhered to by all employees.
What Skills & Experience Will You Have?
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 15-20 years’ experience as an Offshore Driller who has moved into a Operations Management role.
