Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Senior Operational Technical Product Manager team at Marsh. This role will be based in Kuala Lumpur. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, a Senior Operational Technical Product Manager leads a high-performing product team and is accountable for both delivery outcomes and the ongoing health of assigned applications. You translate business priorities into a clear, actionable backlog and release plan, partnering with stakeholders to define scope, success measures, and trade-offs. Working closely with architecture, security and operations, you ensure solutions are secure, resilient and compliant—covering incident/problem management, change and release governance, observability, and continuous improvement. You coach engineers, drive disciplined execution across the SDLC, and provide transparent updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and budget.

We will count on you to:

  • Lead and coach a multi-location product team delivering enhancements and operational support across multiple applications.
  • Own end-to-end delivery: scope, planning, sprint execution, quality gates, release readiness, and post-release support.
  • Drive operational excellence for assigned applications, including incident/problem management, root-cause analysis, and stability improvements.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and Marsh Tech colleagues across APAC, including Japan, to align priorities, manage dependencies, and run effective governance.
  • Make pragmatic trade-off decisions that balance business priorities against technical constraints.
  • Provide transparent reporting on progress, risks, dependencies, resourcing, and budget; escalate early where needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Ownership

  • Act as the accountable owner for assigned business applications, ensuring optimal availability, performance, security, and lifecycle management
  • Establish and enforce technology standards, architecture principles, and best practices aligned with enterprise guidelines
  • Collaborate with system and enterprise architects to design secure, scalable solutions that meet platform and data standards
  • Lead the definition of technical roadmaps and application modernization strategies

Application Delivery & Project Execution

  • Direct the development and deployment of application enhancements and services
  • Lead the establishment of robust change control processes, quality assurance protocols, and testing frameworks (development, UAT, production)
  • Provide accurate effort estimates, status updates, and risk assessments on a regular basis
  • Manage timelines and ensure key milestones are achieved on schedule to meet business requirements and operational readiness.
  • Review and approve pull requests (PRs) in GitHub with expertise in code quality, security, design patterns, and architectural consistency; provide constructive feedback to improve code standards

Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance

  • Work closely with local/regional business stakeholders, regional & global Marsh Tech colleagues, cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver aligned solutions
  • Ensure compliance with global and country-specific regulatory requirements, including data protection, privacy, and industry certifications
  • Coordinate audit and certification activities and maintain audit trails
  • Establish and maintain program plans to support communication to senior management.

Team Management & Development

  • Lead and coach a high-performing technical team
  • Allocate work activities based on business priorities, individual skill sets and workload
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in solution development, design, and technical delivery
  • Strong technical leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and modern development frameworks
  • Solid understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid development methodologies
  • Knowledge of security, privacy, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Experience with technology strategy, roadmap planning, and IT budgeting/cost management

What makes you stand out:

  • Strategic thinking: Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions
  • Technical excellence: Deep technical knowledge combined with the ability to define technology strategies and product roadmaps
  • Communication skills: Clear, articulate communication across technical and non-technical audiences; ability to present complex concepts to senior business leaders.
  • Relationship building: Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with regional cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Operational excellence: Experience establishing processes, standards, and frameworks that drive consistency, quality, and efficiency
  • Japanese language proficiency is an added advantage
  • Experience in the insurance and/or financial services sector is an added advantage
  • Exposure to regional projects, particularly in Japan and/or Korea is an added advantage
