http://Realtor.com ’s News & Insights is seeking an experienced News Editor to oversee real estate news content and to curate our homepage.
You will be required to spearhead articles that are grounded in economic data, be able to drive the real estate news agenda, and come up with innovative ideas for articles that drive audience growth. The role requires someone who is able to think on their feet and who values immediacy - along with having the knack for longer-term planning. You will display excellent editorial judgment, and have flawless copy-editing skills.
As this is a dual role, you will also have experience in curating a homepage, preferably for a major news site across both mobile and desktop, and be an expert in headline writing. You will be a team player who is able to work cross-functionally with other editors, and have experience in managing a team of reporters. The role reports directly to the VP, Editorial and Content.
What You’ll Do:
- Assign and edit news articles to a high standard
- Be able to come up with innovative story ideas - some that are steeped in economic data, and others that fall in line with the news agenda
- You will work closely with both full-time and freelance journalists and guide them with your feedback
- You will have experience in making editorial decisions steeped in data, and use those metrics to drive audience engagement.
- You will also curate the homepage, ensuring that it is crafted seamlessly for mobile, and desktop

What You’ll Bring:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage a small team
- You will have a solid track record of overseeing articles from ideation through to hitting the publish button
- At least six years’ experience as a senior reporter, and two years’ experience as a news editor at a major news organization
- You will have full-time experience in homepage curation at a major news organization
- Familiarity with content management systems
- Bachelor’s degree

The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect in the listed locations. We tailor our offers based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, location and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process. All ranges are location based, ranges for positions in other locations may vary based on the local market.
Salary Range for:
- New York $99,050 to $141,150
Pay-for-performance is a key element in our strategy to attract, engage, and motivate talented people to do their best work. Accordingly, offers extended for this role will include an annual bonus target typically expressed as percentage of salary. Similarly to salary, annual incentive bonus targets are set based on a variety of factors including job level, competitive market practice, experience, tenure, and essential skills.
