Key Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, manage and troubleshoot complex network architectures using Cisco routers and switches and Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security appliances.
Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
Act as hands-on resource with subject matter expertise to implement cost effective, scalable solutions.
Explore new capabilities and emerging technologies, applying to roadmaps where appropriate.
Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies and solutions.
Define business cases, required investments and recommend methods and metrics to implement IT-enabled business change efforts applying technology solutions to business problems.
Manage project planning, design / integration activities, network capacity planning, workload automation.
Implement network security best practices, including firewall policies, VPNs, and intrusion prevention.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to support business requirements and ensure compliance.
Respond to and resolve network incidents and outages, including after-hours support as needed.
Lead network upgrade and migration projects, including hardware and software refreshes.
Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Assist in tracking and publishing network service level metrics.
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in network engineering and security, with a focus on Palo Alto systems.
7+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams and matrixed organizations.
In-depth knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including Panorama management.
Strong expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches.
Proficient in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN, site-to-site, remote access).
Demonstrated skill in structured troubleshooting and complex issue resolution.
Experience with wireless networking and remote access solutions.
Familiarity with network security concepts and best practices.
Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, etc.).
Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Palo Alto certifications (PCNSE, PCSFE) and/or Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE).
Experience with cloud networking (GCP, AWS, Azure).
Knowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Python scripting).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

CHI - $105,000-$155,000
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from Illinois and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
