Senior Network Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join us at Telia.

I’m Andrius Valiukevičius Team Manager of the Network Contract Maintenance team at Telia Lietuva. Our team is responsible for managing, maintaining, and providing support for Telia Lietuva internal and commercial clients' data center networks.

What you’ll do:
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will take ownership of designing, managing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures within private and public cloud environments, ensuring stable, reliable, and secure data center network operations. You will:

• Develop advanced network configurations and improvements for data center environments, ensuring secure, stable, and efficient operations
• Lead strategic initiatives to enhance network architecture and introduce automation for operational efficiency
• Create solutions for complex incidents and implement major changes by collaborating with architects, project engineers, and cross-functional teams such as Virtualization, Cloud, Linux, and Windows
• Act as a technical authority, consulting with peers and stakeholders to provide expert guidance, share best practices, and maintain high standards of operational excellence and documentation
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing
• Participate in capacity planning, risk assessments, and vendor evaluations to ensure scalability and resilience
• Drive technology adoption and evaluate emerging solutions to strengthen network security and performance
• Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements across all network operations

What will help you thrive in this role:
This role requires a strong sense of ownership, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead complex initiatives. You also need:

• Proven experience in designing and securing large-scale data center networks, IP networking, and implementing secure and scalable network solutions•
• Strong knowledge to resolve complex network issues in production data center and customer environments, while collaborating across multiple teams
• Ability to work independently, lead projects, and collaborate effectively
• Fluency in both Lithuanian and English

We are seeking a candidate with experience working with Cisco Nexus 3K/5K/9K and excellent knowledge of dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of IP networking and L2/L3 network protocols, including TCP/IP, VLAN, VRRP, LACP, MC-LAG, EVPN with VXLAN, DHCP, and DNS, as well as strong expertise with NGFW firewalls like Palo Alto, Fortigate, and Checkpoint. Proficiency in creating high-quality documentation and fluency in both Lithuanian and English (written and spoken) are essential.

While not mandatory, experience in network automation for infrastructure deployment, Application Delivery Controllers (F5), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Python programming, VMware NSX-T technologies, public cloud network technologies, and familiarity with DevOps principles and integration of networking into CI/CD pipelines will be considered a significant advantage.

Monthly salary range for this position – 3100 – 4500 Eur (gross) + annual performance. Although it may vary depending on your skills and experience.
