Job Description

Chief designer of network communications- Provides technical leadership in vendor selection, design, and management of the Children's converged wired and wireless networks.

Experience

  • At least seven years of experience in a technical support position in a microcomputer environment
  • At least seven years' experience in knowledge of generally accepted networking principles, including data loss prevention, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory in supporting multi-protocol network environments (i.e. BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IP Multicast, MPLS, QOS, VLAN, and VOIP)
  • At least seven years' experience in physical and logical network design, including network management and detailed packet analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCIE, CCDE & CCar certifications
  • Cisco CCNP certifications highly preferred
  • At least five years' experience in healthcare setting

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, information systems, related field, or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with Palo Alto Firewall, Cisco ISE, and VXLAN
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrate well-developed organizational, written communication, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, including administrative, executive staff, and patient care systems users
  • Knowledge in routing concepts and networking protocols, including BGP, CDP, CLNS, VRRP/HSRP, IGRP/EIGRP, MPLS, NAT, OSPF, QoS, RIP, DNS, VLAN/PVLAN, TCP/UDP, IP, OTV, and others
  • Knowledge in building a strong secure network, with expertise in implementing the organization's IDS/IPS, ISE, VPN’s, ACE, and firewall solutions, including auditing and event management
  • Utilize knowledge in designing and implementing a network infrastructure to meet Compliance requirements pertaining to the organization in (PCI, HIPAA, Cyber Security etc.)

Job Responsibilities

  • Designs, configures, and maintains network management utilities/tools (Prime, Cisco Works, Smartnet, etc.); utilizes information to provide bandwidth utilization and capacity planning.
  • Designs, sets up, and configures complex wireless networking that supports public and secure access and the ability to support voice and video conferencing technologies/applications.
  • Creates detailed design documents, such as Visio diagrams, architecture definition documents, IP allocations, device descriptions, and narratives describing the function of the design.
  • IDF and MDF management and standards, including cabling standards, hardware and switch port labeling, and documentation to include closet layout Visio diagrams.
  • Maintains uniformity throughout the organization and maintains a well-organized horizontal/vertical wire management system.
  • Implements and maintains proper IDF/MDF facilities to include hardware high availability and redundant power supplies and UPS's at all times. Works with facilities on any cooling and other environmental issues.
  • Is able to conduct in-depth research into issues and technologies as required and to recommend preferred hardware and/or solutions.
