Job Description Summary:
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our global network infrastructure. You will lead operational routines and project rollouts, ensuring all activities align with industry best practices and in-house processes to deliver high-quality services to our international customer base. Your expertise will help drive continuous improvement and innovation in our networking capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Network Design and Implementation: Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of complex network solutions across global campuses and data centers.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee day-to-day network operations, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Customer Engagement: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and effective communication regarding network performance and issues.
- Problem Resolution: Provide advanced 3rd-level support for isolating, resolving, and documenting network issues. Lead root cause analysis for complex problems.
- Project Management: Manage and coordinate network-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives. Communicate scope and schedule changes effectively.
- Vendor Collaboration: Engage with equipment vendors and technical support centers (e.g., Cisco TAC) for hardware and software troubleshooting and resolution.
- Change Management: Oversee change management processes, ensuring minimal disruption to services during network updates or changes.
- Escalation Support: Provide escalation support for issues with carriers (ISPs) and assist in service provider negotiations when necessary.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident resolutions. Prepare reports on network performance and incidents for management review.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior network engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Extensive Networking Knowledge: In-depth understanding of networking concepts related to LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and data center environments in a global enterprise context.
- Certifications: Cisco CCNP certification is required; CCIE certification is highly preferred. ITIL certification is a plus.
- ITSM Proficiency: Familiarity with ITSM ticketing systems and platforms, demonstrating experience in managing service requests and incidents.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with enterprise-grade networking equipment (Cisco, Arista, HP, Palo Alto, Viptela) and skilled in network devices including multilayer switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, and access points.
- Monitoring Tools Experience: Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., HP OpenView, Solarwinds, PRTG) is beneficial.
- Operating Systems Knowledge: Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems. Experience with orchestration tools is a plus.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage customer expectations and deliver exceptional service.
- Adaptability and Multi-tasking: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and projects while adhering to tight deadlines.
- Global Mindset: Experience working in a global environment, with the ability to accommodate flexible hours and out-of-hours work as required by project demands.
