Job Description:

Position Description:

Researches, designs, and develops computer and network software for specialized utility programs. Develops and automates infrastructure processes using Python and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles. Configures IP routing, firewalls, load balancers, proxies, and DNS. Integrates cloud PaaS services, ensures security protocols, and levarages Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) practices for efficient issue resolution. Works with cloud networking and security constructs, particularly within AWS or Azure environments. Advocates for and practices IaC, employing Python, Ansible, and SDN programming as well as emerging technologies (Serverless, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI)) to drive innovation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, mitigates, and resolves issues impacting internal and external business, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining top-tier reliability and uptime.

  • Troubleshoots complex network issues, including device failures, application slowness, connectivity problems, and network blips.

  • Identifies and resolves issues to improve overall network performance and enhance customer experience.

  • Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions.

  • Updates software or enhances existing software capabilities.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Network Engineer (or closely related occupation) providing solutions across data centers and cloud environments using networking technologies (switching, routing, and wire-less access points), network security, software-defined networking, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing network management on routers and switches, using Infoblox and IP routing; configuring security devices -- firewalls, load balancers, and proxy systems -- to ensure data protection and network security; and implementing and developing security best practices and cloud deployment, using Terraform and Cloud Formation Templates.

  • DE troubleshooting problems systematically in on-premises (data center) and cloud environments (AWS or Azure) to resolve IP connectivity issues and handle high-priority tasks, using Terraform and Cloud Formation Templates; and automating network tasks to backup network appliance configurations and deploy IaCode to public or private Cloud environment.

  • DE configuring, troubleshooting, and administering network with high availability, 99% resilience, and implementing disaster recovery (DR) with redundant network connectivity, using MPLS, IPSEC VPNs and dedicated leased lines from data centers to Cloud environments,  leveraging dynamic and  static routing protocols; and conducting network and security incident analysis, computer forensics operations, evidence gathering and preservation, incident containment, and incident recovery.

  •  DE maintaining network change requests submitted by network support teams using Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) change management processes; designing and deploying Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks(WANs), and Wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches and other hardware; conducting research on network products, services, protocols and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry;  and developing and maintaining computer security incident response team policy, procedures and protocols.
