Senior Network Engineer – Wireless/WiFi

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This role sits within Infrastructure Services Engineering and partners closely with Global Network Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Security Architecture. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support both small format retail environments and large campus networks. You will be responsible for optimizing wireless networks for performance, security, and integration with business systems, with a focus on Cisco wireless technologies including Cisco Spaces.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a senior network engineer with deep expertise in wireless technologies and RF engineering. You should be comfortable working across Cisco wireless platforms, with a strong grasp of 802.11 standards, site survey tools, and performance tuning. You’ll be expected to lead wireless network design, optimization, and integration efforts across diverse environments.
Bullets to include details on:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- Experience designing high-density wireless networks for voice, video, and IoT
- Working knowledge of Cisco Catalyst Center and Cisco ISE for policy and access control
- Hands-on experience with Cisco WLCs (9800 series and legacy), Cisco APs, and Cisco ISE
- Scripting experience with Python and automation tools like Ansible or Terraform is preferred but not required
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP Enterprise (Wireless), CWNA/CWDP/CWSP, or Ekahau ECSE
NICE TO HAVE:
- Project management experience for large-scale wireless deployments
- Expert-level understanding of RF principles and IEEE 802.11 protocols including WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E
- Advanced RF tuning and traffic analysis skills using tools like Wireshark
- Experience with wireless site survey tools such as Ekahau Pro and AirMagnet
- Experience implementing QoS and capacity planning strategies
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
- Design and implement wireless networks for retail and campus environments
- Conduct predictive, passive, and active site surveys using professional tools
- Optimize RF performance and troubleshoot complex wireless issues
- Manage Cisco wireless infrastructure including WLCs, APs, Catalyst Center, and ISE
- Leverage Cisco Spaces for location analytics, IoT services, and user engagement
- Integrate wireless systems with broader network infrastructure and business platforms
- Develop documentation and training materials for global teams
- Lead wireless deployment projects and collaborate with vendors and stakeholders
