Leidos’ Defense Sector is seeking a Senior Network Engineer (RTSS) to support an Army Program focused on delivering advanced capabilities for operational decision-making in complex and dynamic environments. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and supporting complex network infrastructures across the enterprise. This role provides technical leadership, drives network modernization initiatives, and ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of mission‑critical systems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in routing, switching, and network design, along with the ability to mentor junior engineers and lead cross‑functional technical efforts. This position plays a key role in shaping long‑term network strategy and delivering high‑performance solutions that support organizational growth.
Locations include Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Fort Belvoir, FL; Tampa, FL
This position is contingent upon program award, anticipated late March.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise‑class network architectures across data centers, cloud environments, and remote sites.
- Lead complex network engineering projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Develop and enforce network standards, best practices, and configuration baselines.
- Troubleshoot advanced network issues and provide Tier‑III escalation support.
- Optimize network performance through capacity planning, traffic analysis, and proactive monitoring.
- Implement and manage routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), switching technologies, and WAN architectures.
- Ensure network security through segmentation, firewall policies, access controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support business initiatives.
- Mentor and guide junior network engineers, providing technical oversight and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
- Experience in network engineering or network operations.
- Expert‑level knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, and network protocols.
- Strong experience with enterprise networking platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or equivalent).
- Proficiency with routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
- Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security technologies.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues in large‑scale environments.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and analysis tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetFlow, etc.).
- Strong communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent.
- Experience with SDN, network automation, and scripting (Python, Ansible).
- Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures.
- Experience with MPLS, Segment Routing, or advanced WAN technologies.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust architectures and modern security frameworks.
- Background in designing highly available, large‑scale, or multi‑site network environments.
- Experience leading technical teams or serving as a project technical lead.
