Senior Network Engineer – Network Platform Engineering

An enterprise client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join their Network Engineering Platform Team and lead the design, evolution, and standardization of their global enterprise network infrastructure. This role focuses on network architecture, engineering standards, lifecycle management, automation, security, and platform reliability rather than day-to-day operational support.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Cisco Meraki, SD-WAN, enterprise networking, and network platform engineering, along with a strong track record of building scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions across distributed environments. You will partner closely with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and IT Operations teams to ensure the network platform supports business growth, manufacturing operations, and evolving security requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Platform Engineering & Architecture

• Design and maintain enterprise-grade network platforms across LAN, wireless, WAN, SD-WAN, data center, and cloud connectivity environments.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Cisco Meraki and SD-WAN technologies.
• Develop and maintain network reference architectures, standards, and implementation patterns.
• Ensure network solutions integrate effectively with cloud, identity, endpoint, server, and security platforms.

Lifecycle Management & Reliability

• Lead network hardware and software lifecycle planning, including EOL/EOS management, refresh strategies, and roadmap development.
• Define and enforce global standards for network architecture, firmware, hardware, and configuration baselines.
• Drive proactive risk reduction initiatives and technical debt remediation.

Security & Resilience

• Engineer secure-by-design network platforms in partnership with cybersecurity teams.
• Manage vulnerability identification, prioritization, remediation planning, and validation.
• Design resilient network architectures utilizing segmentation, redundancy, and fault-tolerant principles.

Automation & Optimization

• Develop automation for network deployment, validation, and configuration management.
• Improve observability through monitoring, logging, and performance analytics.
• Continuously optimize platform scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor network engineers and provide Tier-3 escalation support for complex issues.
• Participate in architecture reviews, incident post-mortems, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Support global expansions, acquisitions, and infrastructure transformation projects.

7+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.

Deep expertise with:

• Cisco Meraki - SD-WAN architectures
• Routing & Switching (BGP, OSPF, VLANs)
• Wireless networking
• Firewalls and network security controls
• Experience supporting distributed, multi-site, or manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of high-availability and resilient network design.
• Experience documenting architectures, standards, and engineering designs.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with globally distributed teams.

Preferred:

• Azure and/or AWS networking experience
• Network automation (REST APIs, scripting, Infrastructure as Code)
• ITIL or platform ownership experience
• CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certifications
• Experience supporting M&A or global infrastructure transformation initiatives
