About the team

The Bank is looking for a Senior Network DevOps Engineer for a Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2026 with Cisco network and firewall experience.

This role sits within the Information Technology – Network Services – Core Modernisation Transition team. This is a newly created opportunity to shape and embed the RBA’s next-generation on-premises infrastructure services. The team is responsible for the transition and operationalisation of the new infrastructure platforms currently being implemented.

About the role

  • You will report to the Network Services Transition Support Team Lead. The Network Services team is part of the Infrastructure Services section of IT.

  • As part of the team, you will provide expert services in relation to network management, troubleshooting and improvements, while providing a service-oriented approach.

  • You will apply DevOps principles, drive automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) via Terraform.

  • A strong focus on operational excellence, system reliability, and secure infrastructure delivery is essential.

  • Undertake the provisioning, maintenance, security hardening, capacity planning and performance testing of network (data, storage) systems infrastructure

  • Participate in 2nd line IT incident and security response capability for network infrastructure

  • Improve, harden, test, implement, monitor, and tune networking software/hardware to ensure optimum systems performance and highlight potential issues

  • Manage the analysis of network traffic data and providing recommendations on performance and security improvements to network infrastructures as appropriate

  • Undertake acceptance tests and commissioning communications systems and equipment

  • Occasional scheduled work at our Business Resumption Site at Bella Vista will be required

  • Work with cyber security team to improve Bank’s protections and remediate vulnerabilities

About you

  • You are a highly skilled DevOps engineer with a network skillset and a passion for modernisation and automation. You bring a strong technical foundation and a collaborative mindset.

  • Terraform Certified with deep knowledge of the HashiCorp toolset (Vault, Terraform, Packer).

  • Proven experience deploying Terraform in highly secure, multi-datacentre environments.

  • Degree preferred in IT coupled with Industry accreditations in Cisco and ITIL

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco networking infrastructure covering both Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Firewalls Cisco and/or Palo Alto and applicable management tools to manage such as Cisco Security Manager (CSM)

  • Strong communications (data/voice/video) infrastructure experience

  • Proficient in writing policies and procedures and other support documentation

  • Python and relevant scripting languages to automate activities.

  • Good understanding of IT infrastructure and service management practices.

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn: Network management tools such as Cisco DNA Centre, Statseeker and Infoblox.
