We are seeking a Backend Engineer for a contract engagement supporting a quick service restaurant client. This role is focused on extending and maintaining backend services that power the client’s digital customer experiences — including native mobile applications and future web functionality. You will work within an existing .NET-based system, collaborating closely with mobile and product teams to deliver features, stabilize integrations, and ensure the backend can support upcoming roadmap initiatives.
This is a hands-on delivery role, ideal for someone experienced in building APIs, working within cloud environments, and integrating with third-party systems at scale.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain APIs used by mobile applications and internal systems
- Extend and stabilize integrations with external services (e.g., loyalty, payments, user auth, CDP)
- Contribute to feature development efforts including campaign-based theming, gift card flows, and ordering enhancements
- Collaborate with mobile and QA teams to debug issues, align on payload structures, and support end-to-end flows
- Optimize backend services for performance, reliability, security and maintainability
- Work within Azure-hosted infrastructure using containerized deployment (AKS)
- Participate in code reviews, production release planning, and documentation
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a backend engineer using .NET (C#)
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with Azure services and Kubernetes-based deployment models
- Proficient with GitHub workflows and CI/CD practices
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across distributed systems
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, cross-functional team
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting mobile applications from the backend (iOS, Android, or Flutter)
- Familiarity with systems such as feature flags, analytics, or third-party marketing integrations
- Understanding of security practices around API auth, session management, and token handling
