About the role

Lendi Group is seeking a Senior Mobile Software Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team building secure, reliable and performant mobile experiences for Australians navigating property buying and home finance. You'll work at the intersection of product, design and engineering to deliver features that customers and brokers love, operating in a trusted, regulated domain where quality and security matter.

We practice agentic development using Claude Code alongside human engineers. Our workflow is spec-driven (via OpenSpec): engineers write structured proposals and specifications that guide both human and AI implementation, enabling fast iteration while maintaining quality and traceability. You'll be expected to work comfortably with AI tools as part of your daily workflow — reviewing agent-generated code, writing specs that drive agentic workflows, and continuously improving our development practices.

Our mobile tech stack: React Native, Expo SDK, EAS (Expo Application Services), TypeScript, Zustand, React Navigation v7, Auth0, Reanimated, Zod, React Query, and Ky.

This is a unique opportunity to influence our mobile platform and engineering practices at national scale. This role is based in Sydney or Brisbane, with on-site collaboration at the office 2 days per week alongside the broader team.

Feeling like you don't tick every box? Please consider applying — we value potential, a learning mindset and transferable experience.

Job Description

  • Help lead the development and evolution of our React Native + Expo apps as growing user interfaces for key customer and broker journeys.
  • Write clean, maintainable TypeScript/React Native code — both directly and via AI-assisted development (Claude Code) — with strong attention to secure-by-default practices.
  • Design, implement and own significant parts of the app architecture (navigation, data/domain layers, Zustand stores, module boundaries, Expo config plugins and native integrations via Expo Modules API).
  • Build and maintain shared npm packages (internal scope) used across multiple apps — e.g. deep linking, push notifications, developer utilities — to promote reuse and consistency.
  • Collaborate with product, design and backend engineers to ship end-to-end features, integrating APIs and ensuring a smooth cross-platform experience (iOS & Android).
  • Build with a security mindset: threat modelling, least-privilege data access, and careful handling of sensitive financial data.
  • Instrument, monitor and support what you build: analytics, monitoring (RUM), structured logging, crash reporting and alerting.
  • Contribute to CI/CD (Bitbucket, Buildkite, EAS Build), code reviews, automated testing and continuous refactoring to keep the codebase healthy.
  • Work with AI agents (Claude Code): write OpenSpec proposals and specifications that guide agentic implementation, review agent-generated PRs, and help evolve our agentic development practices and skills.
  • Mentor and support other mobile engineers; help drive best practices within a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 3-5+ years of professional software development, with significant, current commercial experience in React Native (TypeScript).
  • Proven delivery of production apps on both iOS and Android with deep platform knowledge (tooling, app lifecycles, app store processes).
  • Secure mobile development fundamentals: encryption in transit/at rest, Keychain/Keystore usage, safe storage & transport of sensitive data, and familiarity with OWASP mobile guidance.
  • Authentication & authorisation: working knowledge of standards such as OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect and robust session management on mobile.
  • Strong testing discipline: unit and component tests running in CI; comfort maintaining test suites as the app scales.
  • Backend integration experience (REST/GraphQL), including auth flows, resilience and error handling.
  • Production ownership: telemetry, debugging, incident mitigation and post-incident improvement (runbooks, feature flags/kill-switches).
  • Clear, considerate communication and a collaborative approach to working with product/design/QA and other engineers.

Desirable

  • Expo experience: comfortable with Expo SDK, EAS Build/Update, config plugins, and the managed workflow. Understanding of when to use Expo Modules API vs. bare native code.
