At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.
Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.
New Verticals is everything our customers buy that isn't a restaurant meal: groceries, pharmacy, electronics, the shop on the corner. It's one of the company's growth engines and still largely unsolved as a product problem - a forty-item grocery basket is nothing like ordering dinner. As a Senior Mobile Engineer, iOS - you'll join New Verticals EMEA, the group accountable for that mission across Wolt and Deliveroo in 30+ countries, organised as five teams.
Your home team owns quality and cost: making sure customers actually get what they ordered, at a sensible cost of getting a basket to their door. Substitutions, unavailable items, order accuracy - invisible when it works, infuriating when it doesn't. You won't only work there: mobile expertise is in demand across all five teams, and part of the role is going where the iOS work is.
This role is primarily focused on native iOS development. Experience across both iOS and Android, as well as backend development, is a strong plus.
What you’ll be doing- Building, improving and maintaining native iOS features for customer-facing journeys within our shared consumer apps.
- Partnering closely with product, design and engineering colleagues to turn customer and business needs into simple, reliable and scalable mobile experiences.
- Contributing to the design, implementation, launch and ongoing ownership of meaningful product initiatives.
- Working with our server-driven UI (SDUI) approach to build configurable, component-based views that allow teams to move quickly while maintaining a coherent customer experience.
- Making thoughtful technical decisions around architecture, testing, performance, observability, release processes and maintainability.
- Collaborating with engineers across teams that own different parts of the same app, helping ensure integrations and shared patterns work well together.
- Supporting and mentoring full-stack engineers who are developing their mobile expertise, and helping raise the bar for mobile implementation practices across the team.
- Using AI-enabled tools pragmatically to improve engineering productivity, while applying strong judgment around quality, security and validation.
- Strong experience building and shipping high-quality native iOS applications, with a solid understanding of modern iOS development practices.
- Experience working on large-scale, consumer-facing mobile applications, ideally in an environment where several teams contribute to the same app.
- Good knowledge of mobile architecture, testing, performance optimisation, observability, modularity, CI/CD and App Store release processes.
- Experience collaborating closely with product and design partners to solve customer problems, not only implement specifications.
- A pragmatic, product-minded approach: able to balance quality, speed and long-term maintainability.
- Comfort working in an evolving environment, breaking down ambiguous problems and contributing to clear, practical solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly.
- Experience supporting, mentoring or enabling other engineers, particularly those growing their mobile development skills.
- Practical experience using AI as part of your engineering toolkit, with good instincts for validation and quality.
- Experience with Android development and/or backend engineering is a strong plus.
