Are you an experienced mobile engineer who excels at creating seamless, secure, and high-performing mobile experiences across iOS and Android platforms?
As a Senior Mobile Engineer in our Player Gateway team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how players first engage with Jagex titles, from their initial visit through to becoming active, returning members of our game communities. You’ll work at the intersection of mobile engineering, platform optimisation, and player experience, delivering scalable and secure solutions that power key touchpoints across the RuneScape franchise.
You’ll act as a subject matter expert, leading the delivery of complex mobile solutions while mentoring and developing a talented team of engineers and driving engineering excellence across the wider organisation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Contribute across the full Software Development Lifecycle, delivering secure-by-design, production ready code supported by automated testing, peer review, and reliable deployment practices.
- Act as a subject matter expert, ensuring technical solutions meet product needs and align with Jagex engineering standards.
- Take ownership of the quality and delivery of complex engineering initiatives, ensuring outcomes meet stakeholder expectations.
- Collaborate across teams and disciplines to deliver scalable, high-impact technical solutions.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve systems, services, and engineering processes, driving continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Support team effectiveness by helping engineers break down work into clear, value-driven increments and contributing to a strong, resilient production environment.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve production issues when required.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience with native mobile development across both iOS (Swift / Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin / Java), with a deep understanding of platform constraints such as lifecycle, permissions and store policies.
- Proven experience delivering secure, maintainable mobile architecture that interfaces cleanly with backend microservices.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and performance profiling tools.
- Strong debugging, optimisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate established codebases.
- Demonstrable ability to mentor engineers and contribute to improving engineering standards and best practices.
- Experience with C++ would be an advantage.
