Job DescriptionRESPEC seeks an experienced Senior Mining or Geological Engineer for our Grand Junction, CO location.
The Senior Mining or Geological Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of planning mine operations from exploration and mine planning to production. This position will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary professionals to manage engineering projects. Additionally, the Senior Mining or Geological Engineer will play a pivotal role in mentoring other Engineers as well as conducting business development activities, including identifying new opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and contributing to the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization. Domestic and international travel is required for visits to client mine sites and client and corporate meetings.
QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in mining, geological or civil engineering
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in mining engineering including mine planning, resource optimization, and reserves planning
- Registered professional engineer
- Project management experience
- Experience in mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Hexagon, Vulcan, Minesched, Carlson and GIS)
- Experience in underground mining methods for soft and hard rock
- Experience in pit optimization software
- Production planning and scheduling experience required (preference to Deswik or MineSched)
- Proficient in programming skills preferred (e.g. TCL, Lisp, Visual Basic, and other programming languages)
- Experience with client interaction and/or management (i.e. sales, service work, business development)
- Proficient in Microsoft365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. The salary range for this position is $120k-$150k. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package. RESPEC is a 100% employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
