About your team: 

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

 Your Role:

As a Senior MI Developer, you’ll be at the heart of our data capabilities, working closely with stakeholders to turn their needs into effective technical solutions.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Impact Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments to design and build efficient data capabilities.
• Development and Testing: Lead the development process, from design to performance testing, ensuring stakeholder sign-off and user acceptance.
• Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Code Management: Maintain the integrity of our code repository, version control, and audit trails.
• Knowledge Management: Lead the documentation of data structures, contributing to our knowledge management framework.
• Executive Reporting: Ensure that data solutions support high-level executive reporting needs.
• Problem Resolution: Tackle recurring issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.

 What We’re Looking For:

• Database Expertise: Mastery of relational and non-relational databases and data management.
• Programming Skills: High-level proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies.
• Business-Technical Translation: Ability to convert business terminology into technical language and vice versa.
• Data Platform Knowledge: Understanding of data quality, analytics, and more.
• Big Data Experience: Proven track record as a Data Engineer on Big Data Platforms using technologies like SQL, Git, HDFS, Hadoop, Hive, Tez/Map Reduce, etc.
• Analytical Approach: Systematic, disciplined, and detail-oriented problem-solving skills.
• Communication Skills: Excellent at presenting, explaining, and influencing.
• Organisational Skills: Strong prioritisation and time management abilities.

 Management Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Manage and guide your team to deliver high-quality data solutions.
