Primary role duties
- Recommend proper methodology and process for measuring parts and/or analysis (CT Scanner, CMM, Smartscope, Tensile machine, Roundness tester, Surface profiler/ roughness tester, FTIR, GCMS and any other precision instruments), including set up, running the equipment and generating the reports.
- Ensure measurements and analysis have good accuracy and repeatability.
- Manage the calibration of machines and tools, including planning and coordinating of preventive maintenance and calibration of machines with external service providers.
- Evaluate and implement solutions to problems related to metrology, measurement and analytical discipline – Inspections, Analysis, Testing, Documentation.
- Work from written or verbal instructions, detailed attention to engineering drawings, and 3D models to establish inspection criteria for measurements and analysis, proactively offering practical ideas and solutions.
- Create, prepare and standardize inspection/measurement/analysis reports.
- Receive minimal level of guidance and supervision (10%), work toward assigned plans and executes their own work to the highest standards and in timely fashion.
Secondary/additional role duties
- Facilitate and coordinate continuous improvement plans with respect to metrology and analytical activities.
- Coordinate with external parties for services and purchases; including commissioning, installations, upgrades and outsource jobs.
- Review and compare technical specifications for new technology and machines.
Skills
- Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Materials Engineering or any related discipline.
- Minimum 4 - 6 years (2 - 4 with higher degrees) of working experiences in a manufacturing environment or measurement intensive roles, including failure analysis.
- Basic working experience in advanced and prototype engineering will be added advantage.
- Intermediate knowledge of reading engineering drawings.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
- Intermediate knowledge of 3D CAD modelling and GD&T.
- Familiar with plastic / metal part design and manufacturing processes.
- Intermediate knowledge of jigs and fixtures for measurements.
- Intermediate organizational and planning skills.
Specific technical qualifications/exposure
- Minimum 2- 3 years of working experiences in Metrology/Analytical laboratory (Preferable).
- Intermediate working knowledge of core discipline.
- Basic knowledge of Metrology / Analytical instruments usage.
8D Methodology exposure.

- Good time management skills on individual tasks and when coordinating work with other.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to gather information & problem solve with a systematic, logical approach. This will often be for issues with no pre-precedent. Expected to be able to resolve problems effectively while managing stakeholders’ expectations.
- Ability to provide independent opinions/viewpoints to a problem with sound evidence and assess multiple opinions/viewpoints independently, recognizing evidence & able to determine technical direction in specialist areas.
