JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or institution.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including supporting spacecraft of other aerospace hardware.
Experience applying mechanical engineering fundamentals to areas such as structural design, electronics packaging, thermal considerations, shock, and vibration.
Experience with mechanical design and development, including 3D CAD, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
Experience supporting hardware through design, analysis, manufacturing, integration, and/or test.
Familiarity with spacecraft or launch environments and their impact on mechanical design.
Experience with advanced aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Spacecraft, CubeSat, or other flight hardware development experience.
Experience with structural or thermal analysis tools such as Ansys Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation, or Thermal Desktop.
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or institution
- At least 5 years of spacecraft mechanical engineering experience, including electronics packaging, thermal, shock, vibration, stress dynamics, and cost; a Master's degree may count as two years
- Experience conducting architectural trade studies with parametric and first-order cost and physical analysis
- Experience using professional mechanical and FEA CAD tools such as Ansys Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation, and Thermal Desktop
- Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T
- Experience with advanced aerospace manufacturing and materials, including sandwich panels and carbon composites
- Proficiency in detailed mechanical design, including 3D CAD and drawings
- Experience designing and manufacturing mechanisms and mechanical actuators
- Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques
- Familiarity with spacecraft thermal architectures, heat pipes, phase change materials, contact resistance, surface finishes, and spacecraft thermodynamics
- Familiarity with launch and low Earth orbit environments, including thermal, shock, vibration, and radiation
- Familiarity with design for test, manufacturability, assembly, and reliability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Python, C++, or other programming languages
- Experience with two or more spacecraft structural and mechanical architectures
