Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. In this leadership role, you will serve as a Lead Mechanical Engineer and technical expert responsible for overseeing electrical engineering design and delivery across a wide range of infrastructure and building projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering design for projects of varying size and complexity from concept through construction, including chilled water, hot water, condenser water, steam, fuel oil, ductwork and controls systems
- lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts, manage project scope, schedule, and budgets and serve as a primary point of contact for clients
- Supervising and mentoring engineering staff, fostering their technical growth and career development, while ensuring high-quality and code-compliant design execution
- Play a key role from conceptual design through construction completion, leveraging in-house collaboration across disciplines
- Combine strong technical expertise with leadership, communication and project management skills to deliver successful project outcomes in a fast-paced environment
- Perform and review engineering calculations, system layouts and design documents in compliance with codes, standards and company procedures
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules and resource allocation
- Serve as the primary client interface for mechanical engineering scope, ensuring alignment with project requirements and expectations
- Supervise, mentor, and develop engineering staff; assign tasks and monitor performance
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, efficient design solutions
- Conduct quality control reviews and ensure accuracy and completeness of construction documents
- Participate in project planning efforts including estimating man-hours, defining scope and identifying risks
- Lead design reviews, resolve technical challenges and make independent engineering decisions
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Proven experience in the management, planning and design of mechanical engineering projects
- Proficiency in Revit
- Proficiency in HVAC load calculations software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Have a team player mindset with the ability to communicate proficiently in written and verbal forms
- Have good to great organizational skills
- Knowledge of energy modeling and system optimization
- Working knowledge of industrial and/or manufacturing electrical systems design
- Familiarity with arc flash analysis software
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam
- Sustainability credentials such as LEED AP or similar
