Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (Industrial Project Manager) to lead complex engineering projects for a major industrial manufacturing client. This role combines technical engineering expertise with project management responsibilities, overseeing large-scale mechanical systems from conception through completion while ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Technical Engineering: 

  • Design and construct HVAC and plumbing systems using building information modeling (BIM) 
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with electrical, architectural, and other disciplines for integrated building designs 
  • Perform construction inspection and observation, producing detailed project reports 
  • Review and enhance existing engineering standards, techniques, and practices 
  • Evaluate and apply standard engineering procedures and judgment for complex system solutions 
  • Utilize Autodesk REVIT, CAD, and other design tools 
  • Review and edit technical specifications and documentation 

Project Leadership & Management: 

  • Manage overall project administration and establish project-specific objectives and policies 
  • Provide leadership and guidance to subordinate managers and technical staff 
  • Serve as primary liaison between AECOM and client stakeholders 
  • Oversee all project phases from budgeting and scheduling through procurement and contract closeout 
  • Maintain significant profit/loss responsibility for assigned projects 
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with design specifications, budget constraints, and schedule requirements 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8+ years of relevant engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 12+ years of Mechanical, HVAC, or process engineering for industrial manufacturing or water/wastewater environments 
  • Advanced project management certification 
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects 
  • Proven project management experience with P&L responsibility 
  • Proficiency in Autodesk REVIT, CAD, and building information modeling 
  • Experience with HVAC and plumbing system design and construction 
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
