The Senior Mechanical Designer / Document Control Specialist is a senior-level role responsible for leading the mechanical design and drafting of electro-mechanical systems while also managing document control processes and serving as the Product Data Management (PDM) system administrator. This position ensures the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of both design outputs and revision-controlled documentation across multiple projects.
This role combines advanced mechanical design leadership with ownership of document control systems and processes. The position provides technical direction to designers, collaborates closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, and ensures all controlled documents are properly managed, versioned, and accessible in accordance with company standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead design activities for electrical switchgear, drive systems, and mechanical assemblies.
Oversee creation of detailed 3D models, mechanical layouts, and assembly drawings.
Ensure adherence to company drafting standards, part numbering, and bill of materials processes.
Collaborate with engineers and fabricators to maintain design integrity and manufacturability.
Engage with vendors to ensure quality and on-time component delivery.
Support other departments by providing technical input and documentation assistance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Serve as the administrator for the Product Data Management (PDM) system.
Manage the release, revision, and distribution of all controlled engineering documents.
Establish and enforce document control procedures, standards, and workflows.
Ensure proper version control, traceability, and audit readiness of drawings and documentation.
Coordinate with engineering and project teams to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
Train and support team members on PDM usage and document control best practices.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting or design.
Nine (9) or more years of 3D modeling and detailing experience in oilfield or related industries.
Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical systems design.
Preferred Qualifications
Expert-level understanding of cable sizing and National Electric Code (NEC) standards.
Work primarily in an office environment with occasional visits to the shop floor for measurements or collaboration.
Regular sitting, standing, and use of computers and office tools.
Minimal exposure to physical hazards; adherence to PPE when required.
