Job Description:

The role of the Senior Marketing Manager, Asia-Pacific will be to manage and grow partner relationships across the region from a marketing perspective, with a particular focus on growth in Japan. Their primary responsibilities will focus on the day-to-day planning/execution of IMAX-focused marketing initiatives, while ensuring that partners strongly integrate IMAX in their own marketing efforts. The Marketing Manager will work collaboratively with IMAX’s various exhibitor, studio and agency partners to strengthen relationships towards maximizing box office performance results.

This role is located in Tokyo, Japan.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and nurture marketing relationships with exhibitor partners to ensure deep integration of IMAX messaging in film marketing and brand campaigns, focusing on raising IMAX brand knowledge and IMAX box office

  • Act as the frontline representative and IMAX evangelist for key marketing partners, ensuring they are fully aware of the strong IMAX benefits to their business

  • Assist in the development and implementation of ROI-positive, best in class, IMAX-centric film and brand marketing campaigns that deliver against IMAX GBO and attendance growth

  • Build and execute launch plans for new IMAX locations across the region, working closely with exhibitor partners

  • Work with the Global Brand, Film Marketing, and Communications teams out of the United States, and International Film & Exhibitor Marketing out of the UK to ensure cohesive regional marketing plans are executed

  • Manage and grow the local Japanese social channels (via agency support)

  • Assist in researching local territory cinema business and apply learning to deliverables

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration or other applicable discipline

  • 8+ years of experience working in account management or marketing in Japan, (ideally in the entertainment or adjacent industries) with strong account and project management experience

  • A proven track record in developing and growing relationships with large partners from a B2B perspective, ideally within a consumer goods or media/entertainment environment

  • Native-level Japanese ability, with fluency in English (business level or higher) is required

  • Must be extremely flexible, welcome change, and have the confidence to work independently when required

  • Industry Experience - Experience developing and executing marketing plans in the theatrical or home entertainment industry, or relevant peripheral industries

  • Relationship Management - Exceptional relationship management capabilities, including the proven ability to negotiate and influence outcomes with a proactive and thoughtful approach

  • Organization - Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in an environment of shifting priorities

  • Attention To Detail - Detail oriented and thorough, with strong written and oral communication skills

  • Teamwork - Able to both work in a team environment, and to work independently, be a self-starter and take the initiative
