SAE International is seeking a Senior Marketing Communications Specialist to support SAE Publications, with a primary focus on peer-reviewed research, technical papers, journals, and related information products. This role develops and executes marketing communications that increase awareness, engagement, usage, and revenue across the publications portfolio, working closely with publications, product, sales, editorial, and digital marketing teams to translate complex technical content into clear, audience-relevant messaging that connects researchers, engineers, practitioners, librarians, and institutional buyers to SAE’s published content.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaboration:
    Partner with Publications, Editorial, Product, Sales, and agency teams to support aligned marketing efforts and campaign execution.
  • Agency Coordination:
    Coordinate with external marketing agency partners on assigned campaigns, ensuring deliverables align with established objectives and timelines.
  • Campaign Execution & Product Promotion:
    Support the development and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns and targeted promotional initiatives that drive awareness, engagement, and usage of SAE Publications and related products.
  • Content & Digital Marketing:
    Develop and manage marketing content and digital assets across email, web, and social channels to promote publications and research offerings.
  • Market Insights & Performance Tracking:
    Monitor campaign performance and audience engagement data and apply insights to improve messaging, targeting, and overall campaign effectiveness.
  • Budget Support:
    Track campaign budgets and support efficient use of resources within established guidelines.

  • Strong active listening skills to understand stakeholder needs and translate them into effective marketing support.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Ability to simplify technical subject matter into clear, audience-appropriate communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and with a range of stakeholders.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience in marketing, marketing communications, content marketing, or related field.
  • Familiarity with peer-reviewed publishing, technical content marketing, or content licensing/subscription models.
  • Experience marketing technical publications, research, scholarly content, subscription products, or digital information products preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-channel campaigns, utilizing digital marketing channels, including social media, email marketing, and content marketing.
  • Strong writing, editing, and messaging skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to drive decision-making.
  • Preferred experience working within Workfront, Salesforce, Marketo, or related platforms.
  • Experience working with B2B and B2C audiences across engineering, academic, research, library, or institutional markets preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standard office environment: remote or hybrid if in the Pittsburgh, PA area
  • Access to modern digital collaboration tools and technology resources is provided to ensure productivity and seamless communication across locations.
  • Occasional in-person presence may be required for key planning sessions, product launches, or stakeholder engagements.
