The Technology Business Analyst (Vice President) is a senior-level position responsible for driving business analysis, solution design, and delivery execution across Citi's Margin & Risk technology platforms. The role serves as a critical liaison between business stakeholders, product teams, risk managers, operations, and technology organizations to deliver strategic regulatory, risk, margining, and platform modernization initiatives.
The position requires deep domain expertise in derivatives, margin, collateral management, and risk management, combined with strong analytical, data, and technology skills. The successful candidate will lead complex cross-functional initiatives, manage global stakeholder relationships, and contribute to the strategic evolution of Citi's enterprise Margin and Risk ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Solution Design
- Drive detailed requirements gathering, process analysis, data mapping, and functional design activities for strategic technology initiatives.
- Translate business requirements into clear and actionable user stories, functional specifications, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
- Perform impact assessments, gap analysis, and target-state operating model definition for complex programs.
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to define scalable and sustainable technology solutions aligned with strategic platform objectives.
Margin, Risk & Derivatives Domain Expertise
- Support technology platforms responsible for margin calculation, margin optimization, collateral management, and risk reporting across OTC and exchange-traded products.
- Analyze and validate risk and margin methodologies including VAR, SIMM, Credit Stress, and related exposure calculations.
- Develop subject matter expertise across derivatives products, lifecycle events, market data, valuation, and MTM processes.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders on margin and risk-related technology initiatives.
Data Analysis & Control Framework
- Analyze large volumes of trade, valuation, market, and reference data to identify trends, anomalies, reconciliation issues, and control gaps.
- Define and enhance data quality, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness controls across critical risk and margin processes.
- Support root-cause investigations, production issue analysis, and remediation efforts.
- Drive implementation of robust controls to satisfy internal audit, regulatory, and risk management requirements.
Delivery Leadership & Program Execution
- Lead analysis workstreams across large-scale strategic initiatives and regulatory programs.
- Work closely with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Lead backlog management, sprint planning, release planning, testing strategy, and production readiness activities to ensure successful and timely delivery of strategic initiatives.
- Drive prioritization discussions, dependency management, risk identification, and issue escalation.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Build strong relationships with senior business, technology, risk, and operations stakeholders.
- Present complex analysis and recommendations to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
- Facilitate decision-making forums, workshops, governance meetings, and working groups.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide leadership and mentoring to junior business analysts and team members.
- Promote best practices for business analysis, documentation, governance, and delivery execution.
- Contribute to team development, recruitment, knowledge sharing
Risk & Control
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients, and assets.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and control standards.
- Escalate issues, risks, and control deficiencies in a timely and transparent manner.
AI & Innovation
- Identify and drive opportunities to leverage AI and Generative AI to enhance business analysis, data insights, operational efficiency, and controls.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to implement AI-enabled solutions that improve productivity, automation, and decision-making.
- Ensure AI adoption aligns with enterprise governance, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- 8-12 years of experience in Business Analysis, Product Analysis, Systems Analysis, or Technology Delivery within Financial Services.
- Strong understanding of derivatives, margining, collateral management, risk management, and post-trade processing.
- Proven experience working with complex data ecosystems involving trades, valuations, market data, and reference data.
- Demonstrated ability to drive large-scale global initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage modern data and AI-driven tools to solve complex business and technology problems.
- Experience preparing BRDs, FRDs, User Stories, Process Flows, Data Mapping Documents, and Test Strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in SQL and data analysis techniques.
- Strong understanding of system integrations, APIs, event-driven architectures, and data flows.
- Experience analyzing large datasets and performing root-cause investigations.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and enterprise technology platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Margin and Risk platforms within investment banking or capital markets organizations.
- Knowledge of VAR, SIMM, Credit Stress, Initial Margin, and regulatory margin frameworks.
- Experience with OTC derivatives including Interest Rate Swaps, Swaptions, FX, Credit, and Equity products.
- Exposure to cloud technologies, microservices architectures, Kafka, and platform modernization programs.
- Experience interacting with Internal Audit, Regulatory, Compliance, or Risk Management organizations.
- Prior experience leading offshore delivery teams and global initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Industry certifications such as FRM, CFA, PMP, CBAP, or Agile certifications are advantageous.
